BASF's Hannibal, Missouri Plant is one of the world's leading producers of agricultural chemicals. The Production Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day production operations in his or her assigned facility. He or she plays a key role in ensuring that quality products are manufactured economically, on time, safely, and in an environmentally sound manner. Responsibilities include:
* Monitors and analyzes plant processes, equipment operation and QC data to identify and implement opportunities for cost reduction and process optimization which may also include efficiency improvements, de-bottlenecking of equipment, and troubleshooting of processes to improve performance and reliability.
* Programs and performs basic maintenance on distributive control systems
* Develops and presents operator training
* Acts as a liaison with representatives from other departments and functions across the organization
* Provides contractor oversight, management of plant shutdowns, turnarounds, and startups
* Provides technical support and direction to the Shift Supervisors and operators in the resolution of plant problems
* Responsible for supporting and meeting PSM - Process Safety Management requirements.
* Drafts and submits environmental reports as required
* Maintains and update operating procedures.
REQUIRED:
* A Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering and at least three years of progressively responsible experience in chemical manufacturing -OR- a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering and at least two years of progressively responsible experience in chemical manufacturing. *BASF recognizes Institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent.
* Knowledge of DCS (distributive control systems)
* Strong technical skills and background
* Strong communication, analytical/problem solving, organizational skills, team-building, and team-working skills
* Demonstrated knowledge of chemical industry and OSHA safety, health, and environmental laws, regulations, and standards (including PSM - Process Safety Management)
DESIRED:
* Experience with distributive controls systems (particularly Delta V or Honeywell)
* Experience with both batch and continuous processes
