Where the Chemistry Happens…

The Manager, SAP Support, through direct management of a small team, and indirect leadership over cross-business teams, supports projects and day-to-day operations that analyze, monitor, and maintain master data elements and business processes for our SAP systems per requirements of the business.

As the designated MABAS Master Data Expert for EBN, this position leads and develops a small team that supports and coordinates master data maintenance and data accuracy, and supporting business processes ensuring total data quality, collaborating with global MABAS process teams, functional organizations, and business units to accomplish their objectives.

Working independently or as part of a team, the Manager, SAP Support, analyzes processes, identifies areas of opportunity, and defines projects to improve overall business performance and drives them to completion.

As the designated Business Process Expert, this position coordinates all Regional Business Unit (RBU) system development, and leads the business testing of new software releases.

As the Global Business Warehouse Regional Application Owner, this position oversees all aspects of Business Warehouse reporting, development, implementation and user training for the RBU.

  • Ensure ongoing development and deployment of IT business system solutions based on the business needs and strategy.

  • Support the design and successful implementation of profitable, effective. and customer-oriented solutions based on the business requirements.

  • Serve as a key contributor to the annual IT Project Planning Process for the RBU.

  • Coordinate all business release testing and user acceptance/validation for all SAP system upgrades and enhancements that impact the RBU.

  • Build and maintain relationships and networks with internal clients and resources in other parts of BASF.

  • Provide overall leadership and guidance to the RBU on all matters related to the global MABAS system and related master data:

  • Coordinate and provide oversight on all master data-related issues on behalf of the EBN business unit.

  • Manage master data maintenance in accordance with established service level agreements.

  • Collaborate with business and IT partners to support business master data needs.

  • Educate others on various aspects of master data and master data processes.

  • Develop reporting to assist with data quality and accuracy.

  • Monitor data against established standards to ensure data accuracy.

  • Contribute to the design and support of local data maintenance activities, governance processes, and monitoring of data integrity.

  • Indirectly support and provide guidance over customer information management.

  • Lead, manage, and develop a small team in materials information management and coordination.

  • Create and maintain material master data including, but not limited to, material masters, bills of material, manufacturing recipes, costing of materials at facilities, and quality inspection plans within the SAP business system.

  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of work for new product set-up and current product modifications.

  • Regularly audit material master data for accuracy.

  • Interface with multiple departments such as EH&S, R&D, Purchasing, Cost Accounting, Marketing, and QC to resolve SAP issues and to expedite material data creation/maintenance process.

  • Assess and document all steps and characteristics involved in existing processes that are not performing satisfactorily, documenting all constraints, gaps, and desired capabilities.

  • Work with the business to re-engineer the process including removal of unnecessary or redundant steps, automation of steps within the process, and reducing the number of handoffs.

  • Ensure all constraints have been met including company policy, resource limitation, and good business practices.

  • Affirm all tools, systems, and people are in place to support the re-engineered process.

  • Take an active role in personal and staff development.

  • Ensure employees are appropriately qualified and have sufficient resources and skills to fulfill their responsibilities.

  • Develop team to enhance talent with ability to take on greater responsibilities.

  • An advanced degree in a Business/Economics discipline required.

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in using progressive IT systems, including management and support of master data.

  • At least 3 years of SAP system experience is preferred; experience with a similar large-scale fully integrated ERP system is acceptable.

  • Prior experience in project management of large IT projects.

  • Strategic thinker, good business judgment.
