Where the chemistry happens…

We are seeking a Technical Service Specialist to support our Automotive Refinish group in Southern California. Ideal candidate would be located in Escondido, South of Santa Ana or Corona.

As a member of our team, you will be instrumental in providing customer support to automotive collision repair shop customers as well as distribution partners to grow our market share sustainably. In this role, you will be responsible for the technical success of BASF’s automotive refinish products in Southern California region. You will maintain high quality customer service standards at some of the largest Body Shop organizations in the market through process development, correct application of products through teaching & hands on demonstrations and helping the sales team convert new business.

As a Technical Service Specialist, you create chemistry by…

  • Providing technical assistance and training to our customer base and prospects to maintain and gain market share in Southern California market.

  • Working with your BASF colleagues in the region to accomplish regional sales objectives by training on our products, demoing new product lines and assisting the team in any customer requests.

  • Making process improvement recommendations within Body Shops.

  • Helping end users and/or distribution partners be more proficient in product application, selling and implementing new products and generating a positive experience with BASF branded products.

  • Working and staying up to date on any product developments and technology to elevate your professional experience through training and reaching out to marketing, training and internal team members while adding value to our customers.

  • Assuming responsibility and leadership for all technical aspects of the application and usage of our product portfolio (body shop processes regarding Automotive Coatings, product portfolio knowledge & application, product training and recommendations for your assigned territory or customer base.

  • Working closely with the sales team to make sure our distribution partners are properly trained and can effectively sell and position our product and solution offerings against competitive product lines. In addition, you will work with the Business Development and Sales team to ensure identified Body Shop KPI’s are achieved. Regular interaction with Marketing team, Training Department, Account Representatives, Business Development manager, Color specialists, Strategic Account Managers, is imperative.

If you...

  • Have a minimum High School Diploma. (Associate degree or bachelor’s degree is recommended).

  • Have at least 5 years of vehicle painting experience either training or working hands on with Automotive Coatings materials within the automotive market.

  • Can collaborate for achievement will be essential while working within a sales team to accomplish goals by training on our products, demoing new product lines and assisting Account representatives and Business development managers.

  • Understand Body Shop workflow, you will make process improvement recommendations that can be highly valuable to end users.

  • Can communicate effectively will help end users and/or distribution partners be more proficient in product application, selling and implementing new products and generating a positive experience with BASF branded products.

  • Demonstrate your ability to learn and grow, you will work to elevate your professional experience while adding value to our customers.

  • Utilize Microsoft Office tools, you will be required to lead presentations that are focused on introducing new products to market and support a better understanding of BASF branded products.

  • Are familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM system.

  • Understand of competitive products and tools will be a valued asset when participating in the technical aspect of the sales process.

Pay Transparency

BASF is committed to pay transparency practices. The competitive Pay Range for this role is $80-$90k . Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
