Where the Chemistry Happens…
We are looking for a Product Manager who will be responsible for the development and management of the assigned North American product portfolio to meet the financial and strategic objectives of the business. The bulk of the assigned portfolio resides within the Paper Chemicals business.
The Product Manager manages the strategic and tactical execution of the product range and pricing strategy for the region, aligned with global counterparts and Paper and Water Chemicals strategy. He/she acts as the champion for aligning sales forecast (plan) to production schedule while ensuring inventory and asset utilization are optimized to meet sales and financial targets.

Formula for Success: You Will…
Maintain and optimize product portfolio in line with global managers and regional requirements. Ensure availability of all active products and packaging combinations within SAP, and coordinate the full set-up process from origin to execution across North America.
Identify and present innovative and creative product solutions. Seek feedback from Customers/Sales/Distributors and communicate with Global Marketing for current and future product needs.
Manage internal transfer and third-party product (range extenders process), including negotiating costs, inventory and supply agreements. Coordinate reviews of standard costs with Cost Accountants as required, resolving any discrepancies and issues. Establish regional limits and targets for pricing, and approve all pricing quotations.
Collaborates with functional units to ensure customer expectations and service level expectations are met as it pertains to supply of product to the market. Support the development of market price protocols to ensure pricing is set correctly to maximize value for BASF.
Collaborate with internal partners to drive resolution of customer complaints arising from product performance, integrity, and quality issues. Draft and distribute detailed responses to customers.
Oversee the maintenance of product-related media (i.e. Technical Data Sheets, Specifications, World Account, Internal & External Websites, etc.) while liaising with Marketing, Marketing Communications, Technical Service, and IT.
Monitor inventory levels, ensuring they remain optimized for sales forecasts and aligned to business requirements. Provide critical market intelligence from the region to help set R&D objectives and product capacity and investment plans.
Meet regularly with production facilities throughout the organization to ensure alignment on demand, product quality and specifications, raw material changes, and process improvement requirements to remain relevant and profitable in the market place.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
· B.S. in Chemistry, Paper Science, Engineering, Business, or other related field.
· Minimum 5 years of experience in product development, product management, sales, marketing, technical service, quality, or some combination thereof
· Strong experience in Excel required. SAP experience preferred.
· Must be able to travel up to 20% both domestic and internationally
· Critical thinking and problem solving skills related to financial, market, and data analysis
· Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, influencing, and networking skills for use in internal and external environments
· Excellent communication, reporting, and presentation skills
· Possess strong skills relative to project coordination, time management, and multi-tasking.
· Exemplary personal standards relative to ethical and corporate representation of BASF and self in internal and external roles
· Motivated, positive, self-starter who works very efficiently and independently with minimal direction or guidance on routine matters
o Paper industry experience is highly desired
o Experience with wet-end process chemicals or paper colorants is a plus
