We are seeking a Continuous Improvement Specialist to be part of the Continuous Improvement team based in Chattanooga, TN and who will support the overall success of the Dispersions & Resins business in North America.
The Dispersions & Resins business of BASF develops, produces and markets a range of high-quality resins, additives, colorants and polymer dispersions worldwide. These raw materials are used in formulations for coatings and paints, printing and packaging products, construction chemicals, adhesives, fiberbondings, nonwovens, and paper manufacturing. We are building the best team to support the growth and needs of our customers. Continuous Improvement Specialist (1700311)
This is a unique opportunity to utilize a variety of skills and experience in leading Continuous Improvement, Learning and Development (L&D), Operational Excellence (OPEX), and facilitating the Exposure Reduction (ERP) programs incorporating Occupational Safety, Process Safety (PS) and Life Saving Rules (LsR).
Formula for Success: You Will…
Continuous Improvement (CI)
Assist in leading, coaching and/or facilitating continuous improvement projects, set targets and track results.
Assist in coordination and execution of Lean Six Sigma training programs.
Learning and Development Leadership (L&D)
- Assist site in development and implementation of training programs to support continual employee learning and development targets.
Operational Excellence (OpEx)
- Assist in development and execution of 4-year Operational Excellence plan.
Exposure Reduction Process (ERP)
Coach and lead Exposure Reduction Process (ERP) as Facilitator.
Lead site ERP teams through coordination and implementation via a cultural change toward Behavior Based Safety (BBS) with the ERP.
- Assist site with various periodic Corporate initiatives.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
High School Diploma and 5 years of experience working in a chemical manufacturing environment.
Lean and Six Sigma yellow/green belt certification. If incumbent does not have certification credentials, he/she will be required to obtain yellow certification within 12 months and green belt certification within 24 months of hire.
Ability to apply statistical process control and problem solving techniques.
Demonstrated experience working under limited supervision, primarily guided by specific assignment objectives.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills, working and collaborating successfully with other functions and teams, and also presenting and facilitating to medium size groups.
Strong computer skills, specifically Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
AS/BS Degree in a technical field.
