Where the Chemistry Happens…

We are seeking a Financial Analyst to join our Chemical Intermediates division.

The BASF Chemical Intermediates business in North America is a highly profitable business unit with roughly $1.2B in sales. The business is rooted in the BASF Verbund with leading market shares globally and regionally in North America across all four strategic business units. The strategy for the business is to achieve growth rates above the chemical industry with targeted investments to support the growth. A high level of responsiveness to customer needs is one key success factor for a successful acquisition of new customers while maintaining existing business in a very dynamic and fast-paced market environment.

You will be based at the North America BASF headquarters in Florham Park, NJ, reporting to the Business Controller, Chemical Intermediates. Under minimal supervision, you will be responsible for financial analysis associated with emphasis on cost analysis.

Financial Analyst (1702589) – Florham Park, NJ

Formula for Success: You Will…

  • Serve as an active business partner for the Sales, Logistics, and Marketing business units.

  • Provide detailed analysis of cost to serve our customers, including optimization.

  • Deliver comprehensive trend analysis.

  • Participate in Inter-Company Transfer Pricing activities.

  • Hold responsibility for Intra-Company Transfer Pricing.

  • Support any regional reporting/planning requirements.

  • Assist with special projects.

  • Responsible for data maintenance, month-end responsibilities, and review of broken chains.

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field required; advanced degree is preferred.

  • At least 3 years of experience in a financial position that includes Excel-based data analysis and focused attention to detail. Examples include: Sales price/volume/mix analysis, General ledger account analysis, Cost center spending analysis (vs prior period, budget, trend, etc.) or Cost accounting/product cost analysis, supply chain cost analysis, and cost to serve.

  • Ability to interpret various types of information and present key data to management for decision-making purposes.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels; exhibit potential for significant future career growth.

  • Strong hands-on computer skills: Excel, SAP FI, CO and BW required. Knowledge of Pastis Market Modeler a plus.

  • Project Management experience is preferable.

  • Ability to travel 5% of the time.
