The Laboratory Technician provides support service to the Freeport production units and ensures the compliance of the Waste Water Treatment Facility.

Formula for Success: You will:

  1. Perform routine analysis on all samples from the Waste Water Treatment Facility

  2. Maintain all of the instrumentation, ensure adequate lab supply inventories, and chemicals used in the Waste Water Compliance Laboratory

  3. Follow established quality, safety and environmental procedures andpolicies

  4. Author, review, and/or update procedures.

  5. Operate Lab instruments and equipment in a safe and professionalmanner

  6. Ensure that Lab areas are safe, neat, clean, andorganized

  7. Maintain accurate and neat records in accordance with all permit and regulatory requirements

  8. Train other personnel on proper procedures

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Required Skills/Experience/Education/Training- The position requires an associate degree in a scientific discipline with, a minimum of 3 years of laboratory experience.

  • 16 hours of college chemistry and 6 hours of college math

  • Relevant experience with the following instrumentation: titration, TOC, UV-VIS, wet analysis, and any waste water analysis

  • Excellent working knowledge of basic chemistry principles (including chemical equations, unit conversions, concept of acid/base), and laboratory testing

  • Ability to work with a diverse team including lab technicians, chemist, production, and logistics to ensure the best overall result for BASF

  • Self-driven with high degree of initiative and time management skills

  • Must have the highest standards of integrity, accuracy and attention to detail

  • Must be highly organized, flexible and capable of adapting to priority changes

Desired Skills/Experience/Education:

  • Four-year technical degree

  • Experience in a production environment

  • Experience in analyzing waste water samples

  • Strong problem solving skills

  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office) and experience with SAP and Compass CDS software

  • Good oral and written communication skills

  • Good mechanical aptitude

This position requires all candidates to either currently possess or obtain and maintain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) Card from the U. S. Department of Homeland Security.
