We have a great opportunity for an Industrial Mobile Communications Engineer to join our Automation team within the North American Engineering Technical Expertise department and who will identify, champion, implement and maintain Automation and Industrial Communications applications and services, thereby providing a key contribution to the North American manufacturing sites on their Journey to Operational Excellence.

Formula for Success: You Will…
Support project initiatives and work-stream development for the NA Region implementation planning, including technology evaluation and assessment of available vendor solutions.
Provide expertise to the North American Region (100 sites) and Globally in the functional design, implementation, and sustainability of Industrial Communications networking and connectivity, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) applications, and development of new technologies.
Provide expertise to ensure all regional sites are conforming to global and regional standards and strategies of automation and automation security.
Monitor vendor development of new industrial communications applications ensures compliance with the technical specifications, and communicates to the applicable manufacturing areas.
Actively participate in global teams and regional North American Technical Network (NATN).
Monitor and ensure site level industrial communications implementations follow industry best practices and internal security policies.

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
BS or MS in Engineering, Information Systems, or other related technical discipline. BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education that are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent.
7 years combined work experience in the chemical industry with emphasis on Automation, Chemical Industry, Industrial Communications or Automation Security environment.
Strong technical knowledge in the fundamentals of operations, automation/process control, automation networking, and automation security, controls engineering, controls systems, and control system networking.
Basic knowledge of the various interfaces to controls system, such as field instrumentation and control equipment.
Working knowledge of P&ID, instrumentation (wiring & installation), area classifications, preparing specifications, reviewing vendor information and evaluating bid proposals, as well as technical standards, industry standards, and regulatory standards.
Strong knowledge of DCS/PCS platforms and Field Instrumentation.
Demonstrated work experience in implementing process control systems, industrial communications and networking in refining or petrochemical industry.
Strong working knowledge of networking and security of automation systems
Working knowledge of networking and interaction between DCS, SCADA, LARS, PIMS, and IS/IT systems.
Working knowledge of HART, fieldbus, Profibus, Asi-bus and other instrumentation communication networks and busses.
Preparation of estimates for Industrial Communications scope.
Preparation of Industrial Communications networking design basis.
Participate in plant Industrial Communications start-up and troubleshooting.
Strong communication, computer skills, and organizational skills.
