We are seeking a Shift Shipping Supervisor to join our Chemical Monomers group. The Chemical Monomers group offers a comprehensive portfolio of organic and inorganic basis materials and innovative specialties. With our monomers and basic polymers we create durable links - for the success of our customers worldwide.
This position provides supervision to ensure that day-to-day loading activities and logistical support are performed by hourly loaders in a safe and efficient manner. The Shipping Supervisor works interactively with the MDI and TDI production units, Geismar Site Logistics and other Site functions, and various third-party logistics service providers to coordinate loading activities. In addition, as a key member of the Geismar CM Supply Chain team, the Shipping Supervisor participates in various strategic and tactical continuous improvement activities.
Specific job responsibilities include:
Ensures compliance and accountability for direct reports on all aspects of ISO Shipping loading activities through continuous coaching and feedback.
Ensures compliance with customer order requirements as part of the loading and shipping process.
Coordinates activities with MDI and TDI production units, Supply Chain Planners, Site Logistics, and other support functions and third party logistics providers.
Ensures consistency and accountability for shipping personnel regarding shipping instructions, operating procedures, documentations, and EHS activities.
Coordinates loading activities for the Geismar Formic Acid plant.
Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
Ingredients for Success: What We Look For in You…
High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum 5 years of production operations experience in a chemical/petrochemical or other similar manufacturing industry is required.
2 years supervisory or equivalent experience preferred
Strong Leadership Skills to direct operators to load and ship Isocyanate products in a safe and efficient manner
Shipping and/or handling of Isocyanates (MDI / TDI) strongly preferred
Strong interpersonal skills required to effectively interface with a variety of supply chain roles, including customers
Working knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), and other regulatory shipping requirements preferred

This position requires all candidates to either currently possess or obtain and maintain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) Card from the U. S. Department of Homeland Security
