Where the Chemistry Happens…

We are seeking a Packaging Area Leader to join our team in Gordon, GA, and to be responsible for all packaging and shipping operations of the McIntyre plant(s). Packaging consists of paper bags and big bags. Shipping consists of loading paper bags and big bags into containers as well as loading bulk material (dry and wet) into trucks and railcars.

You will manage and operate the facilities safely and efficiently, encourages employee ownership, demonstrates and promotes effective decision making, maintains high personal standards, and establishes/maintains high crew performance standards.

Formula for Success: You Will…

  • Ensure all activities are performed in accordance with all BASF and Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) safety policies.

  • Ensure that equipment is operated in compliance with all environmental regulations/permits.

  • Develop and maintain high housekeeping and performance standards for area(s) of responsibility.

  • Ensure productivity is at budgeted levels and proactively pursue improvements.

  • Ensure quality and on-time shipment goals are met.

  • Evaluate equipment capabilities, identify process bottlenecks and develop plans to resolve constraints.

  • Provide leadership/guidance to crews to maximize performance in support of business goals

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look For in You…

  • A High School Diplooma/GED is required and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in an industrial processing and/or production environment. A minimum of five (5) years of supervisory or leadership experience is required.

  • Must be a proactive self-starter capable of working with limited supervision.

  • Must be comfortable and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

  • Good communication and leadership skills with the ability to motivate employees.

  • Good problem solving skills with ability to quickly address and resolve problems.

  • Proficiency working with Microsoft Office Suite applications. SAP experience is also a preference.

  • Lean/Six Sigma training is a plus. Work experience in a union environment is a plus.

  • Travel 5%
