BASF is currently seeking a Sales Specialist in Power & Industry for Construction Systems covering the Houston Region.

Sales Specialist – Power & Industry – Construction Systems (1702832) – Houston, TX

Reporting to the Regional Sales Manager, the Power & Industry Sales Specialist will be responsible to develop new business in the power generation and industrial segments through existing and potential customer base, and lead the development of customer relationships at all levels. The successful candidate will perform all necessary sales and marketing activities for targeted segments involving core product growth in such a manner as to facilitate project-oriented sales.

Formula for Success: You Will…

  • Complete and maintain a comprehensive SOP (Sales Operating Plan).

  • Provide Strategic Account Management within the region.

  • Establish and maintain product approvals, and stating QPLs with strategic power and energy accounts.

  • Be responsible for Project tracking and the project control process system.

  • Continuously develop contractor network and relationships, establishing primary supply position with each.

  • Develop and maintain relationships and presence as a design professional to maximize specifications penetration.

  • Constant “sharpening the saw” by continually developing technical knowledge and professional selling skills.

  • Solve design and application issues/problems for customers (i.e., engineers, contractors.

  • Train, influence, and assist contractors and owner employees in best practices in successful bidding and application.

  • Introduce and perform physical demonstrations of our product offerings to potential customers.

  • Assist market segment managers by providing voice of customer and competitive market information.

  • Maintain and develop appropriate distribution partnership relationships.

  • Supply pricing for the defined segment.

  • Maintain quality and compliant investigation and resolution for your product set.

  • Be responsible for timely reporting, delivering sales results (top-and bottom-line) and managing territory to the expense budget.

  • Follow all appropriate Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) policies.

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…

  • Bachelor's degree preferred with a minimum of 4 years of experience selling, specifying, or installing specialty construction products into the oil and gas, chemical processing, and/or power industries

OR

  • High School Diploma/Equivalent with a minimum of 8 years of equivalent experience required.

  • Familiarity with rotating equipment, industrial pumps, skids, and baseplates concrete strengthening is required.

  • Training and experience in consultative selling preferred.

  • Robust understanding of how construction products are sold into the targeted segment through various channels of sale, including Specifiers, Distributors, Owners, and Contractors.

  • Strong understanding of the specification process, especially with local, state, and federal agencies, engineers, manufacturers, and contractors including customer decision process, understanding, and knowledge.

  • Ability to travel up to 40% of the time.
