The Technical Service Engineer provides sales, marketing, and technical support for the gas treatment business in North America covering all market segments (ammonia, natural gas, syngas, and refineries), with a focus on the liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry. This position will provide the opportunity to work in the complex business environment of the gas and energy markets, and will offer a full range of engineering, marketing, and sales challenges.

Formula for Success: You Will…
Support Gas Treatment Technology Managers in negotiating and concluding global technology licenses with engineering contractors and/or end customers for OASE Gas Treatment technology and design.
Prepare commercial and technical proposals using OASE design tools.
Perform technical/process design support, including the following responsibilities: a) Develop process simulations, material and energy balance analysis; b) Prepare PFDs (Process Flow Diagrams), review P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams) and equipment data sheets; c) Participate in HAZOP reviews at customer site; d) Review work performed by outside contractors; and e) Perform process optimization studies and evaluations with customers for different gas treating applications, based on market segment and operating conditions, to select the optimum solution for the customer.
Support clients during project commissioning and provide onsite technical support during the start-up of the unit.
Assist customers (existing and new) with plant optimization, technical support, operations/laboratory training, and general troubleshooting.
Negotiate global service contracts with customers in return for technical services.
Implement marketing and sales strategies to increase sales and profitability of gas treatment solutions globally. This will require coordination both globally and regionally between various disciplines (field sales, business partners, logistics, and customer service).
Generate and share information internally about markets, products, competitors, and customers within the industry for use by management.
Attend major industry conferences and participate in regional industry associations to network with industry players and increase visibility of BASF.
Develop external relationships with customers, business partners, universities, and research institutes in the region to promote and develop new technologies.
Participate and contribute to global initiatives of the Global Gas Treatment Team, with responsibility to achieve strategic objectives regionally (e.g.; product launches, development of new technologies, branding, promotional campaigns).

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferably Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
A minimum of 2 years of experience in manufacturing and process engineering; additional experience in marketing and/or sales is a differentiator.
Working knowledge of chemical process simulation tools.
Strong theoretical know-how and practical experience in troubleshooting plant problems and optimizing plant performance.
Experienced communication with technical clientele.
Self-motivated, results-oriented, focused working style with ability to multi-task.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills including negotiation, influencing, presentation, reporting, and relationship-building capabilities for use in internal and external environments.
Ability to influence and provide direction to colleagues and customers.
Organizational awareness: Ability to integrate into matrix organization with production, technical support, and marketing activities (domestic and international). Ability to understand complex customer organizations and develop adequate network.
