Purpose of the Job Why does the job exist and what is it designed to accomplish?

To perform visual and physical testing requirements of raw materials, in process, and final products. Have knowledge of specifications, procedures, and drawings to assure product meets all internal and customer requirements.

Principal Responsibilities Four to eight brief statements indicating what is done (Action), how it is done (Method or Means) and why (End Result). (Use additional sheet of paper if necessary.)

  • Conduct visual, destructive, and nondestructive testing.

  • Inspect and/or measure quality parameters via approved measurement techniques including CMM, calipers, pressure drop, etc.

  • Interpret drawings, procedures, and specifications.

  • Pull representative samples based on established and approved sampling plans

  • Perform in process and rework inspections including visual and physical testing

  • Create and maintain files for inspection reports, nonconforming materials reports

  • Control of nonconforming material.

  • Serve as a contact for internal auditing process and help develop corrective actions related to team quality systems.

  • Write, read and understand technical documentation including policies, procedures, specifications and drawings.

  • Understanding of work instructions.

  • Coordinated work activities through use of processing and shipping forecast.

  • Record and plot data.

  • Alert to and follow all safety rules and procedures.

  • Work environment/Physical demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; as well as talk and hear.

  • The employee is regularly required to document test results via hand written and keyboard entries.

  • The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25pounds. Any part that weights more than 25 pounds needs to be lifted by a manipulator or the buddy system.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

  • May be required to work mandatory overtime and/or twelve hour shifts.

  • The use of personal protection equipment is required such as hearing protection, safety glasses and protective gloves.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Knowledge and Experience – What skills, training or experience are needed to perform the job?

  • High School Diploma/GED with demonstrated enhanced math and/or science ability with 1 or more years of quality experience or 2 years of industrial manufacturing experience.

  • Must be able to operate machines of medium complexity, often including use of intermediate computer skills.

  • Must demonstrate enhanced trouble shooting skills within their assigned process.

  • Must demonstrate the ability to handle multi-task assignments

  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations while performing tasks which may require multiple steps.
