Where the Chemistry Happens…
The Local Quality Engineer assures that assigned technologies consistently meet established requirements and fitness-for-use specifications. This is achieved through close partnerships with stakeholders including, but not limited to, Global Channels/Resources, R&D, manufacturing, process engineering, account managers, and Supply Chain. The successful candidate will facilitate regulatory (FAA, EASA, etc), customer visits and audits, participate in the internal quality audit program, and evaluate findings for systemic issues and continual improvement.
In addition, he/she will address customer product issues, requests, complaints, and concerns driving to efficient closure. The candidate will employ proactive quality monitoring to anticipate and prevent product quality issues and manufacturing constraints that impact customer satisfaction. Essential to this role is the management of root cause analysis while partnering with local manufacturing teams to ensure appropriate corrective actions are taken with escalations when appropriate.
An understanding of existing quality testing requirements in alignment with global best practices, recognition of new methodologies and requirements by quality control resources, responsibility for site-specific documentation, and maintenance of relevant certifications and licenses is a key to the success of this position.
Ozone/Stationary Local Quality Assurance Engineer (1701429)
Formula for Success: You Will…
· Lead and execute root cause analysis using 8D or similar principles to identify opportunities to improve quality performance and customer satisfaction.
· Collect data and analyzes trends using statistical methods, audit results, and current performance against manufacturing standards to prepare reports for internal and external customers. Monitors process performance with statistical methods to identify areas of improvement while driving variance reduction.
· Participate in internal and external audits to ensure continued compliance to established standards and customer requirements, EMEA activities, and control plans reviews and approvals.
· Steer efforts to quickly resolve customer concerns by leading investigations and providing consistent communication.
· Evaluate suspect and nonconforming material to provide resolution and identify activities to disposition questioned material in alignment with requirements and business objectives
· Stop manufacturing processes in cases of non-compliant products. Coordinate and guide process improvements and Management of Change activities at the local site to ensure a smooth and acceptable transition for affected customers.
Serve as the local technology quality contact while ensuring analytical and manufacturing techniques are consistent with global standards and customer specifications and requirements.
Supports the Product Life Cycle Process for local program implementation.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
Ingredients for Success: What We Look For in You…
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Chemistry, Engineering, or Quality Management
Minimum of 5 years prior relevant experience in an quality, engineering, or research role 2 years of which should have been Aerospace-related experience.
Capability of working in a large, complex matrix organization with capacity to operate independently with minimal supervision.
Strong project management, advanced communication, influencing, and negotiation skills combined with team leadership, analytical, and problem-solving acumen.
Familiarity with quality systems including ISO 9001, AS9100 and Root Cause Analysis, and required experience with Quality Tools/Methodologies: FMEA, SPC, control plans, and MSAs.
PDCA, LSS, Continual Improvement experience.
Willingness to travel up to 20%.
This position requires the selected candidate to be either a US Citizen or Permanent Resident/Green Card Holder.
This is an FAA safety sensitive position. A pre-employment drug test will be conducted for the presence of the following controlled substances: Marijuana, Cocaine, Opiates, Amphetamines and Phencyclidine (PCP).
Working knowledge of SAP and statistical analysis software
ASQ certification in Quality, Engineering, and Auditing
LSS Green belt or Black belt certification preferred
Familiarity with FAA standards as they relate to AS9100
