BASF Maintenance Technician Co-Op in Huntsville, Alabama
College student position to learn to perform functions required to efficiently maintain, repair, and install production, support, facility, building, and grounds equipment for continuous operations.
If any situation arises that jeopardizes the quality of the product, the co-op has the authority to stop the process to correct the situation.
Major Learning will include:
Performing preventative maintenance inspections, checks, adjustments, lubrications, and services as determined by equipment operations, environmental and quality requirements, and manufacturer’s recommendations.
Employs fault isolation and troubleshooting techniques to locate equipment malfunctions, perform necessary repairs as indicated by operations tests and end product production that meet standards for quality and quantity for equipment design.
Maintains, services, and repairs plant support equipment systems, boilers, steam distribution, compressed air, heating, ventilation and air conditioning units, water service distribution, plant electrical system, and materials handling equipment.
Using verbal and written instructions, schematics, drawings, prints, and sketches, perform electrical power and control repairs, installations, and maintenance that conform to state and local codes and provisions of the National Electric Code and company procedure.
Performing machining, cutting, grinding, welding, brazing, soldering, bonding, etc., on a variety of materials, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, polymers, and elastomers, in any number of forms, angles, beam box, and tubing forms.
Performing bench repairs to machine and system components to maintain running spares for production equipment continuous operations, pumps, gear boxes, valves, agitators, mechanical assemblies, drives, and other specialized equipment.
Installing, maintains, and repairs material transfer and distribution systems, plumbing and piping in a variety of materials, applications, and construction, copper, stainless steel, galvanized, black iron, polycarbonate, FRP, in welded, threaded, flanged, soldered, brazed and glued forms.
Installing and removes plant equipment utilizing millwright equipment techniques for proper moving, rigging, placement, and alignment.
Performing other duties as assigned.
High School Diploma/GED and current enrollment in Calhoun Community College Specialized Training required.
