At the BASF Huntsville Site, we make the chemistry and technology used in vehicle catalytic convertors and other environmental products. As part of our team, employees help us conceive, design, implement and validate new equipment, technologies and processes to help make our world's environment cleaner. This position contributes by controlling equipment units or systems that process, by batch, large quantities of raw materials, to include high priced precious metals, into catalytic slurries utilizing many diverse technologies. Each batch is processed according to work instructions, knowledge of operating procedures, chemical reactions, laboratory test results, and correlation of process instrumentation.
Troubleshooting and repair of robots, robot end effectors, and related equipment as required by the needs of production and other maintenance personnel.
Creating, troubleshooting, and modifying of robotic programs and related settings
Maintenance of robots and robot related equipment to reduce/eliminate down-time and provide maximum service life of equipment. (preventative maintenance)
Providing training to production and maintenance personnel as related to their daily tasks and job descriptions.
Maintaining inventory of necessary repair parts to reduce robot production downtime.
Maintenance and protection of proprietary property such as robot software, backups of programming, and vital technical information as related to robots.
Providing technical support to production and maintenance personnel when needed for down production situations.
Knowledge of Fanuc robots. Knowledge of Adept and ABB robots is a plus.
Knowledge of Fanuc IR Vision and V500 Vision or other comparable machine vision.
Read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic drawings.
Knowledge of input/output systems including PLC interface, digital, analog, and local robot I/O.
Knowledge of PC’s including repair and replacement of, installation, modification, and troubleshooting of PC programs and hardware.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.
Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
Minimum 2-year robot apprenticeship training program and/or a minimum of 5 years of documented experience in Robotics.
Self-directed: requires minimal supervision
Must have demonstrated strong teamwork, customer focus, and initiative competencies
Good communication skills
Intermediate to advanced computer skills
Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Candidate will need to work extended hours and provide off-shift support when needed. (May be called in after hours and on weekends to support maintenance in a down- production situation.)
Travel may be required to include international as well as domestic (Minimal)
Demonstrate ability to teach and transfer knowledge
Experience in PLC’s / Control System’s a plus
Demonstrate basic shop skills
