Where the Chemistry Happens…

We are seeking a Cost Analyst, to support the Catalyst R&D North America month-end closing process, global planning and reporting activities and other ad hoc analytics to support the Global Catalyst R&D organization and the Global R&D Controllers.

Cost Analyst (1700090)

You will coordinate a number of key financial processes for R&D divisional controlling, such as time entry, incubation funding, and intercompany charges via Non Trade Portal system. In addition, you will support the R&D controlling group in the re-design/simplification efforts for divisional R&D.

Formula for Success: You Will…

  • Lead coordination of monthly time entry process by working with Global Catalyst R&D group leaders and Service center to ensure timely and accurate recording of monthly costs

  • Prepare month-end journal entries, reclassifications, and monitor monthly costs/charge-outs

  • Serve as single point of contact for North American Corporate R&D funding cost center maintenance, budgets, intercompany charges and reporting & analysis

  • Coordinate all NA Intercompany charges requests, approvals, etc.

  • Perform monthly/quarterly variance account analysis and clearing/allocation process

  • Support the annual R&D tax credit process by assisting the tax group with any related requests

  • Perform ad-hoc analysis to support R&D controllers, Business units, or GCC organization

  • Assist with annual planning process & with the re-design/simplification efforts for divisional R&D

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher with a concentration in a quantitative field (e.g. accounting, finance, mathematics, or statistics) and 2 years of accounting/finance experience (journal entries, accruals, cost accounting, cost center management, etc.)

  • Demonstrated advanced skills in data analysis and synthesis required. Strong Excel skills in data compilation and aggregation (e.g. pivot tables, v-lookup and advanced excel skills required, Macros preferred.)

  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of personnel

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of accounting theory and practice/IFRS, systems, budgets, financial/economic analysis, planning and internal control methodologies.

  • Knowledge of SAP preferred

  • Must be detailed oriented, self-motivated, organized, and possess the ability to multi-task and work independently
