Perform the tasks required to manufacture polyurethane systems products in a safe, efficient, and environmentally sound manner in a team-oriented operation. After successfully completing an orientation program, the candidate will be assigned to one of several plant positions. On the job training could be conducted on any of the three shifts, lasting 10-20 weeks.
Candidates must be self-motivated and be capable of working in a fast-paced operation where frequent change of priorities is common place. Organizational skills and trouble-shooting skills are necessary.
All assignments require candidates to have fork truck experience. Candidates must be computer literate and capable of learning electronic systems used in each assignment. Basic math skills are a must.
Likely Job Assignment Requirements include:
Production - Building Isocyanate and Resin batches following batch sheet instructions. Filling containers and preparing them for shipment.
Truckwell - Loading and unloading tank trucks and railcars. Driving the yard tractor on site while moving around box and bulk trailers.
Shipping / Receiving / Warehouse - Operating sit down and stand up fork trucks; Unloading and loading of box trailers; Use of computer systems and warehouse bar code system.
Cross-training in all three areas is expected.
All positions require active participation in Livonia site safety and EHS programs. The successful candidate will be required to work overtime as needed.
This position will be trained and assigned to first shift for a period of 6-12 months. After which time the successful candidate will be moved to their permanent shift which is most likely to be the second or third shifts.
Plant operations are M-F. Fixed non-rotating shifts. 40-hour work week plus overtime opportunities.
Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
High school degree or equivalent GED
Good verbal and written communication skills
Minimum of one year of fork truck driving experience
Basic computer and math skills
Minimum 2 years experience working in a batch managed production environment.
