We are currently seeking a Maintenance Group Leader to manage all aspects of plant maintenance, operation of the WWTP facility, and plant utilities. The Group Leader is the key interface between operations, maintenance and other support groups to ensure proper communication and execution of work.

Maintenance Group Leader (1604219)

You will manage the execution of PMs, troubleshooting breakdowns, repair of all equipment, upkeep of buildings and yards, boiler operations, interfacing with other utility providers and maintaining those services to the plant, and selecting and managing contractors for service work. You will ensure that all work is performed in a safe and efficient manner.

You will supervise and direct the hourly work force in their daily activities.

Formula for Success: You Will…

  • Manage all maintenance work requests from operations and support groups. Insures internal customers receive timely, efficient, and quality service so that production requirements are met.
  • Maintain zero incident mindset and ensures safety compliance of wage personnel and contractors
  • Provide direct supervision to craftsmen in the execution of daily maintenance of plant equipment.
  • Manage and oversee contractor safety, coordinates work, and ensures services requested are completed as requested and at appropriate cost.
  • Analyze equipment failures and working with Maintenance Engineer to implement continuous improvement to eliminate repetitive and costly failures.
  • Analyze monthly maintenance and cost center spending and implementing corrective actions to maintain spending at budget. Assists in annual budget preparation.
  • Provide communication on status of maintenance activities to appropriate stakeholders via reports, and oral and written communications where and when appropriate.
  • Maintain favorable relations with union represented employees within the department.
  • Provide Back up for the Maintenance Engineer position and covers weekend calls and after hour calls.
  • Monitor MPI KPI’s to improve the maintenance process and other SAP reports. Also responsible for maintaining data in SAP to document daily maintenance activities.
  • Manage MPI tasks: 1) Job scheduling and coordination, and 2) Job close out and follow up (Confirming time, PO closeouts, and job history.)

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You...

  • High School Diploma or GED and 5 years of strong on-the- job experience in a plant maintenance environment required. B.S Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering preferred.
  • Significant knowledge of mechanical and instrumented equipment and their maintenance plus knowledge and management of spending budgets.
  • Must have technical competencies of troubleshooting, root cause failure analysis, general computer skills, work planning and estimating, and user knowledge of maintenance computer management systems (SAP).
  • Union environment knowledge and labor contract administration.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, tact, and the ability to communicate effectively and build strong relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Must have generic competencies of good interpersonal skills, customer focus, entrepreneurial acting, high initiative, team collaboration, and work management.
  • Understanding of safety requirements and applicability to maintenance/project activities.
