What you can expect

As a Lab Team Leader Fermentation in our Microbiology Research group in the White Biotechnology Department, you will head a research lab with focus on fermentation process development from lab scale to pilot scale.

  • Together with your team you will drive innovation for the fermentative production of microorganisms and microbial products.

  • You will organize and optimize workflows within the lab, ensure compliance with occupational health, safety and environmental policies and procedures, and support projects in our pilot facility.

  • As part of a global interdisciplinary project team, you will represent your team internally and externally and establish a network with business units and academic partners.

  • You will monitor market trends, relevant scientific developments as well as competitor activities and initiate new projects as part of our innovation chain process.

What we expect

  • Ph.D. degree in biology, biotechnology, process engineering or a related field with excellent final grades. Post Doc or initial professional experience in the field of industrial biotechnology/bioprocess engineering are a plus.

  • You have extensive practical experience in the development and optimization of microbial fermentation processes at various scales; additional experience in downstream processing is welcome.

  • Solid knowledge of bacterial and/or fungal physiology and of modern molecular biology and analytical methods complete your professional profile.

  • You have experience working as part of interdisciplinary teams and have excellent English language skills, strong communication skills and a high level of determination and orientation toward goals.

  • You are a proficient user of standard IT applications and impress us with your innovative ideas and customer-oriented and entrepreneurial mindset.
