  • You hold a PhD in systems biology or in a related field, such as biotechnological engineering or computational biology and possess profound experience in working with "fluxomics" data, preferably in white biotechnology.

  • You already gained knowledge of metabolic pathways in mammals, plants, fungi, and bacteria.

  • Furthermore, providing strong expertise in working with other "omics" data and work experience in an industrial setting is beneficial.

  • You are well acquainted with scripting applications, such as Python and Matlab and have experience in working with web technologies (e.g. HTML, CSS).

  • Your profile is completed by your excellent communication skills as well as your creative and motivated working style which makes you an effective team player.

TaskDescriptionWithin our Digitalization in R&D research unit, you will drive work packages in BASF Bioscience Digitalization projects in order to execute analyses and communicate the results to BASF stakeholders.

  • You will proactively identify and drive the development of systems biology solutions.

  • You will run mathematical modelling of biological systems based on diverse observed data.

  • You will design "omics" experiments together with bench scientists and also analyze your results.

  • While interpreting your results, you will interact with specialists in agronomy, white biotechnology or toxicology and recommend for instance improvement strategies for strain and fermentation optimization.

  • Furthermore, you will be responsible for the communication about the developed work packages and also of the analysis' results to various stakeholders.

  • Therefore, you will interact with internal (potential) customers in BASF as well as with external companies and academic partners.
