We have a great opportunity for an Engineering Group Leader who lead and manage Process and Project Engineering, while remaining an individual contributor, at the McIntosh, AL, site.

Engineering Group Leader (1701413)

Formula for Success: You Will… :

  • Execute and track capital budget of $40M annually, planning and executing capital projects

  • Manage and execute the site demolition plan

  • Assign resources, both internal and external, from design through construction on capital projects

  • Quality manage capital project execution to ensure conformance to Good Engineering practices and BASF guidelines

  • Seek compliance with all EH&S requirements and provides leadership that promotes a safe working environment

  • Work with business and site leadership to formulate and execute the capital strategy

  • Lead the High-Performance Organization within the Engineering team through training, coaching, evaluation performance, administering compensation programs, supporting career development opportunities and succession planning

  • Maintain alignment of site Engineering with the business unit, operations, and production services organizations regarding goals, objectives, strategies and initiatives

  • Assign and leas resources for design, cost estimation, managing approval process, and execution of CapEx projects (total value up to or exceeding $40M annually)

  • Coordinate with production to accomplish tasks while minimizing disruption to the production schedule

  • Participate in and implement MOCs (Management of Change), PSSRs (Pre-Startup Safety Review), PHAs (Process Hazard Analysis), PSM (Process Safety Management), ISO processes as required

  • Participate in and contribute to teams or via ad hoc assignments with other site and NAFTA personnel to review, update, and develop engineering procedures, guidelines, standards and practices

  • Work with site leadership to forecast capital spending

  • Ensure that projects meet functionality, cost and scheduling expectations; reports and communicates status of projects and any variances from stated expectations

  • Track all key engineering KPIs including cost absorption, project conformance, etc.

  • Champion adherence to technical community standards related to capital projects and ensures that projects and maintenance activities are performed in compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements

  • Ensure proper documentation of files, records, databases and drawings to meet regulatory and BASF requirements, and maintains current requirements as to equipment/material specifications and vendor preferences

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…

  • BS degree in an Engineering discipline and a minimum of 8 years of industrial plant experience are required

  • Experience in plant design, procurement and construction is required

  • Understanding of industry recognized best practices for project management

  • Must have general computer skills, including CAD

  • User experience with SAP is desirable

  • Strong demonstrated competency in the following areas is required: environmental, health & safety, communication & interpersonal understanding, customer focus, influence/impact, entrepreneurial action, leading employees to success, analytical thinking and change of orientation/management

  • Demonstrated leadership in execution of Good Engineering Practices is a must

  • Leadership experience required. Supervisory experience preferred.

  • Travel 5-10%
