This position is responsible for supporting the production operation by maintaining instrumentation and electrical systems in good working order. The work must be done in a safe and efficient manner and demands attention to detail. It requires a collaborative approach involving multiple levels of plant operations and maintenance personnel, and the candidate must have excellent troubleshooting, communication and listening skills. This is a rotating shift position and supports the entire McIntosh site off-hours. Responsibilities will include the following:
Use a handheld communicator, field testing equipment, and bench testing equipment to commission, troubleshoot, configure, calibrate, and test all types of industrial field instrumentation and control system I/O.
Perform electrical work on systems below 600V including:
Resetting electrical gear.
Troubleshoot and test electric motors.
Troubleshoot and repair robotics systems.
Troubleshoot and repair lighting systems.
Troubleshoot, program, and replace VFD's.
Locate, read, and understand technical drawings such as Piping and Instrument Drawings, instrumentation drawings, and electrical drawings.
Work in SAP including:
Convert a notification to a work order.
Look up, modify, and create Bill of Materials.
Order storeroom items against a work order.
Charge time against a work order and enter malfunction codes.
Create purchase requisitions.
Work with operations and technical staff to resolve recurring instrument and electrical problems.
Use the instrument engineering software to look up and print specification sheets and view process data.
Use a variety of additional tools and equipment such as drills, grinders, manlifts, scissor lifts, and forklifts.
Read and understand programs for Modicon and Allen-Bradley PLC's.
Technicians must perform quality work safely with little supervision or oversight and take ownership of their own learning and professional development. The shift I/E technician operates at a higher level of autonomy on off shifts since there is no direct technical supervision.
Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
2 or 4 year technical degree in a related Instrumentation or Electrical field.
Industrial maintenance or operator experience desirable.
Intermediate computer skills including using e-mail and MS Office Excel and Word.
Additional desirable skills include working in SAP and with PLC's.
