The Dispersions & Pigments (ED) business of BASF prides itself in offering a comprehensive range of solutions for formulators’ needs for products in coatings, inks, adhesives or building materials. The Dispersions Group has manufacturing sites in Chattanooga, TN, Altamira, MX, Monaca, PA and Freeport, TX.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Shift Leader at our manufacturing site in Monaca, Pennsylvania. The site manufactures dispersions that are used in different applications in multiple industries.
Formula for Success: You Will…
Supervise and coordinate operational activities across the production, supply chain, utility and maintenance areas.
Ensure execution of the Monaca site daily operations schedule.
Effectively utilize personnel, including contractors, to meet productivity and labor utilization standards.
Administer personnel overtime, call out, time sheets, work permits, etc.
Effectively communicate with subordinates, peers, and superiors to ensure that information is exchanged at all levels.
Provide leadership and required resources including training, coaching, discipline, performance evaluation, communication of expectations, conflict resolution and functional excellence of operators and mechanics.
Maintain proficiency in dealing with onsite emergencies, safety and mechanical issues and troubleshooting problems.
Site wide operations on off shifts.
Support and participate in the site ISO 9001, PSM, RMP & RCMS programs.
Be a "Site Safety Champion" who supports the BASF Process Safety Program (i.e. maintain an open process safety culture, Zero Incident Mindset, establish appropriate personal and operations goals, provide and complete training, report and investigate incidents).
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
Ingredients for Success: What We Look For in You…
BS degree in engineering –OR– AS engineering technology degree 4 years’ of chemical processing technology experience –OR– High School diploma or GED 8 years’ of chemical processing technology experience.
Demonstrated leadership, teamwork and human relations skills.
A working knowledge of the mechanics and operation of different types of process equipment (e.g. pumps, valves, agitators, instrumentation and controls etc.).
An understanding and awareness of chemicals and their nature, hazards, safety and health issues, etc. Familiarity with safety practices and techniques relating to the chemical industry (e.g. LOTO, Confined Space Entry, Hot Work).
A working knowledge of computers, including email and Microsoft Word and Excel.
Ability to work 24/7 rotating shifts and willingness to become a member of the Emergency Response Team.
Ability to meet physical demands of the job; which may include lifting and climbing ladders.
Team lead or supervisory experience.
Five (5) years of latex or dispersions manufacturing experience.
Knowledge of ISO, Process Safety Management (PSM), Responsible Care Management System (RCMS) programs.
Familiarity with DCS or PLC based control systems.
