Where the Chemistry Happens…

Reporting to the President of Bioscience Research (RB), the Global Director Finance and Controlling is responsible for the leadership and total administration of the global finance and controlling function.

Formula for Success: You Will….

  • Lead planning and forecasting activities, economic analysis, business assessment, financial reporting, and performance measurement for Bioscience Research (RB).

  • Provide financial leadership, insight/counsel, and collaboration to leaders and teams across research functions.

  • Lead capital planning projects, partner with key leaders in any acquisitions, divestitures, restructures, and new investment opportunities.

  • Provide expertise in solving problems and enhancements relating to finance/controlling processes, automated system needs and new requirements including endorsement of digitalization.

  • Be responsible for the Accounting ramifications of financial decisions, and proactively consult with Research teams to support these key decisions.

  • Serve as a member of the Bioscience Research Executive Management Team (EMT) and collaborate with them on all finance and controlling topics.

  • Lead a global team of finance and controlling professionals, providing direction, oversight, and career development. Ensure provision of analytics, insights, and decision support to leaders and teams across RB. Supply accurate accounting and financial analysis to support effective business decisions by RB leadership.

  • Provide key development for RB/OC team to build and strengthen skills to ensure strong partnerships with client groups. Serve as a point of escalation/mediation as needed.

  • Partner with peer leaders in the Finance and Controlling Job family in North America to provide support for regional talents on development topics.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…

  • MBA with a concentration in Finance, Economics, Accounting or related discipline required; CPA or CMA a plus.

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in finance and/or controlling and combined with minimum 3 years of direct team leadership experience.

  • Previous experience working in multiple geographic regions (minimum 2) with demonstrated capability to communicate with, influence, engage, and influence different cultures and styles.

  • Strong leadership, collaboration, and problem solving skills; ability to manage ambiguity and work will all levels of the organization.

  • Negotiation and conflict management expertise; willingness to reach out and engage in an appropriate manner.
