The Operations Manager has the responsibility to ensure the safe, efficient and effective operation of the catalyst manufacturing production areas, which include the Prep department, the Pyromet department (Electric Arc Furnace and TBRC), and the Hydromet department (wet Refinery and Salts and Solutions). This requires overall coordination of production, maintenance, technologies, capital investment, health and safety, ecology, quality assurance, coaching and development. They must also ensure the effective and efficient utilization of resources including staff, materials, and equipment.
Formula for Success: you will…
Coach and develop 120 operations staff to reach their full potential.
Ensures that all activities within the operations organization are aligned with and supportive of the site's Journey to EHS Excellence. Provides leadership to this process through active participation in various meetings, activities, recognition events, etc
Manage Operations to ensure safe and efficient production within established standards of Safety, Health, Quality, Cost and Environmental Protection.
Demonstrate high level of initiative, and independent decision-making ability.
Oversee the maintenance of all equipment to minimize downtime.
Participate in process design and engineering activities.
Collaborate with the Global Team to ensure sharing of best practices and maintaining operational standards.
Maintain effective precious metal controls to eliminate or minimize loss of material.
Achieve production goals with respect to cost, quantity, quality, and safety.
Create and ensure that effective management review processes are in place in order to achieve performance goals related to EHS, financial, operations, quality, employee development, and operational management targets.
Be responsible for area cost control, inventory management, productivity improvement and metal control activities.
Interact with the commercial refining organization in evaluating the capability and cost of new refining feed stocks.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
Ingredients for success: what we look for in you…
BS Degree in Chemistry, Metallurgy or an engineering field with related equivalent experience required
Strong leadership capabilities and experience directly managing others required
Minimum of 10 years of production management experience required
Solid working knowledge of requisite environmental, health and safety (EHS) requirements required
Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization (i.e. verbal, written, negotiation, problem solving, facilitation) and interface with internal & external customer contacts.
Demonstrated ability in developing or maintaining EHS excellence in a complex manufacturing environment.
Experience in precious metals recovery and refining, specifically in the methods of hydrometallurgy and/or pyrometallurgy is preferred
Experience with the processing and tracking of platinum group metals or high value materials in general is also preferred.
