Product Manager - Basecoats (1701610)
The Product Manager - Basecoat is a key part of the BASF North American Marketing Team for Automotive Refinish. This role works collaboratively with Sales, Market Sector Managers, Marketing, Technical, Supply Chain, Distribution, as well as customers to intimately understand and champion customer product needs. The purpose of this particular position is to manage all products that comprise the Refinish portfolio of Color Topcoats across all Refinish brands. Launching new products, driving product innovation through the PhaseGate process, product pricing, competitive product evaluations, and ensuring products are aligned with the brand and global product strategies are critical components of this role.
Formula for Success: You Will…
Participate in cross-functional teams to develop and introduce products that fit into the Brand and Strategic Business Plans and are consistent with the Customer Value Propositions
Identify short and long term product portfolio needs to maintain a competitive advantage for BASF; work with the technical group to set priorities
Establish product pricing in accordance with company policies and procedures , maintaining market competitiveness
Work in conjunction with supply chain to provide monthly product forecast, ensure product availability, and manage any quality and/or production challenges
Initiating business cases and managing the PhaseGate process for new product development
Initiate product discontinuances procedures as part of a balanced portfolio
Identify competitive products to be tested against BASF product
Provide monthly reporting on product sales performance and profitability

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
Bachelor Degree in a business or technical field with a Master's Degree preferred.
5 years experience in a marketing, business, or technical role required. Experience in refinish automotive coatings technology or closely related field preferred.
Strong technical knowledge, customer focus, and business/financial acumen
Ability to function in a matrix corporate environment and lead cross-functional teams
Strong organizational and analytical skills, with high attention to detail
Proficiency in MS Office Applications with strong excel and strong presentation skills
Ability to travel up to 20%
