We have a great opportunity for a Marketing Manager, Cosmetics, to join our team. BASF Colors & Effects is a global business unit focused entirely on pigments and with sales of about €1 billion and 2,500 employees globally. BASF holds a leading position in the pigments market, offering the broadest portfolio of products and technology. BASF’s pigments business serves a variety of industries including paints & coatings, printing & packaging and plastics.

Marketing Manager, Cosmetics (1701370) – Tarrytown, NY
This individual will be a key member of a global virtual cosmetics marketing team and will be responsible for the marketing activities for BASF's cosmetic pigment portfolio in the North American market. As a member of a global virtual team this person will represent the requirements and needs for the North American region. We engage across the entire cosmetics value chain including the cosmetic brand owners, marketing companies and contract manufacturers.
In this role, success will be measured by demonstrating profit growth for the industry of responsibility. Candidate must be an excellent team player with the ability to interface closely with the external market, customers, consultants, and industry associations, as well as, internal functions, such as the global marketing team, product management, sales, technology, customer service, controlling, etc.
This position will be in Tarrytown, NY.
Formula for Success: You Will…
Identify industry specific trends, requirements, unmet customer needs, key growth areas and opportunity fields.
Attain and reach industry specific profitability and growth targets.
Develop and ensure implementation of cosmetics strategy and product portfolio positioning including strategy for positioning against competitive products (including value proposition).
Identify innovation opportunities for assigned industry segments and input into innovation pipeline
Initiate and manage Innovation / Phase Gate projects (Project Lead role).
Coordinate new product launches including developing launch packages including all marketing collateral, concept samples and presentations.
Identify, prioritize and coordinate projects in conjunction with the Cosmetics laboratory personnel
Meet with customers (with and without the sales team) to identify market trends, opportunities and competitive risks.
Develop industry specific target pricing in conjunction with business management and global product management.
Collect and validate market & competitive intelligence
Develop and implement best practices to enhance organization’s marketing excellence
Develop marketing approach for the pigments for cosmetics industry including sales tools and promotional materials.
Organize and participate in industry specific trade shows / fairs and ensures representation in key industry associations.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
BA/BS degree, preferably in Marketing, Chemistry, or Cosmetic Chemistry plus a minimum 5 years of experience in sales, marketing, and/or technology required, 7 years preferred. MBA and/or industry experience strongly preferred.
Experience leading global teams
Ability to understand the chemistry of the effect pigment product portfolio combined with the knowledge on how to market the products most effectively in cosmetics
Strong technical knowledge within the industry; background in Consumer Products preferred, primarily Color Cosmetics
Excellent verbal communications skills
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office – PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
Ability to travel 20%
