West Coast Account Manager & New Business Development, Cosmetics

This is a Virtual, Home-based Position!

This role:

Manages and develops strategic business and markets for direct and distribution Accounts on the West Coast. Will work in coordination with Marketing and Business Management.

Is responsible for new business development for cosmetics. Develops and facilitates customer relationships with incubators, brand owners, distribution accounts, and contract manufacturers.

Is responsible for the distribution account management (DAM) for distributors within a geographical territory.

Facilitates and drives the sales growth of distributors through active participation with, and support for, distribution customers.

Communicates with functional support groups as required, including Development, Product Regulatory, Applications Support, Technical Marketing, and Customer Operations Management.

  • Support and develop customer relationships and identify new market trends and business opportunities in and beyond customer scope and product portfolio.

  • Identify new customers in strategic market and develops long term customer buying relationships.

  • Apply the sales process with the intent to meet or exceed business targets for volume and profitability.

  • Implement price increases to guarantee long term profitable growth.

  • Identify and attract new customers, pursues new applications for cosmetic pigments and interacts with customer marketing, R&D, and applications teams to generate future profitable business.

  • Create account plans and customer strategies that are aligned with marketing and business management.

  • Be a conduit for market intelligence, providing teams with regular updates on customer and competitor activity.

  • Negotiate and close growth opportunities and sales contracts with customers.Provide support to the operational teams, including: legal, marketing and global development, to ensure implementation.

  • Provide accurate sales forecasts to support efficient demand planning process and financial forecasts.

  • Interface with Technical Account Managers and Applications team to address customer needs and technical requests.

  • Drive growth in cosmetics with a strategically-relevant product portfolio and new technology.

  • Service cosmetics direct and distribution accounts, with the mindset to expand and grow BASF’s cosmetics business.

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…

A Bachelor’s degree in marketing or business is required. An MBA is a plus.

A minimum of five (5) years in related positions with experience in account management is required. Experience in a customer-facing technical role would also be considered. Seven (7) years of experience preferred.

Demonstrated Customer relationship skills.

Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Willingness to travel a minimum of 50%.

Strong negotiating skills and business acumen.

Demonstrated track record to grow business as an Account Manager

The ability to develop and implement sales strategies.

Experience with Cosmetics and/or Cosmetic Effect Pigment technology (strongly preferred).

Solid market understanding of Cosmetics and Personal Care market (required).
