R&D Specialist II (2000914) – Acampo, CA

Where the Chemistry Happens…

The R&D Specialist will assist in all aspects of the watermelon breeding program with the objective of developing superior varieties with enhanced input and output traits for specific market segments.

Formula for Success: You Will…

  • BSc or MS in horticulture, plant breeding, genetics or closely related field

  • 1 or more years of experience in carrying out trials in plant breeding or related discipline

  • Working knowledge of horticultural practices and procedures, genetics and plant breeding.

  • Analytical thinking, interpersonal skills, convincing, solving problems, innovative, entrepreneurship

  • Ability to give clear directions and accuracy in administrating information

  • Language skills: English required, bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively, exercise good judgment, and be organized.

  • Must be able to work independently and must also be a team player

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.

  • Must be able to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization.

  • Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft office. Basic knowledge of databases and statistics.

  • Organization and precision of data management.

  • Analytical and a good observer
