This position will report to the Marketing Manager for the Watson Bowman Acme (WBA) business, a division of BASF Construction Chemicals. WBA specializes in design, manufacture and sale of expansion control systems for the construction industry. WBA offers specialty products and services for the infrastructure market sectors, including bridge, parking facilities and stadiums, and architectural building structures.

WBA Business Development Manager (1903239) - Amherst, NY

The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for creating a strategic network of Distributors throughout North America to stock and sell WBA expansion joint product lines for all sectors. This includes, but is not limited to, developing/maintaining strong customer relationships, researching and identifying areas of opportunity to increase sales through distribution channels, coordinating training, branding, and other marketing activities to support Distributors, and developing programs and aligning pricing with multi-branch national Distributors. This position will partner with Sales and Marketing to help achieve sales growth targets by supporting product launches, generating promotion strategies, and supporting the development of sales tools and materials.

Formula for Success:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or a related field from an accredited college or university and relevant professional work experience.

  • Proven market influence and demonstrated success of executing performance-driven customer programs.

  • Ability to develop technical knowledge and a thorough understanding of product line in order to act independently and respond to customer inquiries.

  • Effective negotiation and conflict resolution skills in order to work through complexities and meet the needs of both the customer and the business.

  • Time management and relationship building skills to develop customer loyalty and confidence in the wabo ® brand using a progressive approach to exceeding customer needs.

  • Capable of working independently and as part of a team to help support Sales and Marketing maximize opportunities and achieve growth targets.

  • Educate and enhance the WBA value proposition as well as BASF as a total solutions provider.
