EHS Specialist (1903714) – Beachwood, OH

Where the Chemistry Happens

We are seeking a professional like you to join our team to support our Beachwood, OH and Union, NJ R&D sites. This role will be based in Beachwood, OH with frequent travel to our Union, NJ R&D site . In this role, you will ensure compliance, coordination, and continuous improvement of environmental and process safety programs and projects. This includes providing regulatory expertise and ownership of the site’s compliance assurance process. You will also provide leadership on all aspects of environmental standards by reviewing applicable standards and interpreting associated requirements to the site and advising site management of compliance concerns. Additionally, you will develop strategies and programs to ensure compliance to new federal, state or local regulations.

Formula for Success

  • Leveraging your education and experience, you will provide technical and regulatory expertise to ensure occupational safety, industrial hygiene and environmental compliance at the respective operations, as part of a zero-incident mindset.

  • Your experience with EPA, NJDEP and permitting in New Jersey and Ohio will be critical as you update and maintain environmental permits overseeing the waste management program for the respective operations.

  • Your strong leadership ability will be essential as you provide strategic leadership and work with management on identified EHS issues/recommendations/opportunities to foster continuous improvement of EHS programs and culture. You will ensure all EHS program elements are developed under the principles of Operations Line Management Accountability for EHS.

  • As a subject matter expert, you will assist sites with implementation of corporate standardized EHS policies and procedures, included but not limited to OSHA Laboratory Standard, Safe Work Permits, Job Safety Analysis, Management of Change, Incident/Accident investigation, lockout/tagout, confined space entry, hot work permits, forklift and elevated surfaces work, hoists and cranes, electrical safety, ergonomics.

  • Working well in a team, you will participate in capital project reviews consistent with the level of industrial hygiene and safety expertise needed.

  • Successfully engaging within and outside the organization, you will provide field presence and support to include, but not limited to, reinforcing a culture of behavior-based safety, field audits/inspections and coordinate/track findings.You will also support the interface with regulatory agencies and third parties, as needed, on compliance and enforcement issues.

  • Your strong proactive nature and communication skills will serve you well as you prepare materials for safety meetings and facilitate staff safety meetings as needed.

  • Demonstrating your exceptional safety orientation will be vital as you collaborate and interface with business partners and functional teams where the ability to gain cooperation is critical.

  • Your professional certification(s) in safety and environmental practices will be an asset as you communicate and facilitate the sharing of programs, procedures, and tools that promote a safe working environment.
