Laboratory Technician I (1804266) – Beachwood, OH

The primary function of an entry-level Technician I is to acquire the necessary technical skills to support the development and maintenance of advanced chemical solutions for new construction, preservation, repair or renovation of structures. The employee provides support to advanced-level technicians, scientists and managers through the performance of industry-related technical and organizational activities.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Perform basic materials testing and laboratory tests

  • Prepare chemical, physical, mortar and/or concrete tests

  • Generate and record data

  • Provide accurate verbal and written results and communicate them effectively

  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and organized fashion

  • Collaborate with the team on projects

  • Wear necessary safety equipment and follow company established Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures.

  • Maintain good attendance record and report to assigned job station in a timely manner.

  • Follow all appropriate Environmental Protection, Safety, Health (EHS) policies.

  • Notifies his/her supervisor before undertaking a work activity in which he/she is not adequately trained.

  • Immediately reports unsafe acts or conditions to his/her supervisor and takes immediate interim steps to protect himself/herself and others from serious risk.

  • Understands that Safety and Environmental responsibility is a major part of BASF culture. Must report all unsafe conditions and accidents immediately to appropriate managers or directors. Responsible for the safety of themselves and others.

  • Must understand and follow all quality initiatives and processes for ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14001:2004 and other ISO regulations, procedures and processes as they pertain to job responsibilities.

  • Process safety roles and responsibilities across the organization are clearly-defined and include an expectation to raise, and authority to respond to process safety concerns. Senior leaders are held accountable for process safety performance. Employees understand the importance of process safety as it applies to their jobs and are responsible for following and contributing to the work processes to achieve improvement in company process safety performance.

  • Assure standards of safety, environmental, team and individual performance are met in a high-performance team-based organization

  • Address and raise the EHS standards at BASF

Basic qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ACI Certification preferred; will be required after employment.

  • Prior concrete testing experience preferred; prior laboratory experience preferred.
