Senior Technician – Beachwood, OH (2102085)
This position will be located at the Catalyst Research Center in Beachwood, Ohio. The successful candidate will operate lab/pilot equipment and conduct lab/pilot scale experiments through routine and non-routine procedures for the support of research, development, and production activities and ensure that all equipment is in safe working order.
Accurately prepares and documents the experiment conditions and equipment configuration, daily testing results, and communicates the results to the supervisor
Resolves minor problems, recognizes when results are not meeting expectations and notifies the supervisor
Enters and follows-up on maintenance and repair work orders of pilot equipment and instrumentation to ensure that all equipment and instrumentation are in safe working order
Keeps inventory of raw materials and products and notifies the supervisor when raw materials are short supplied
Maintains housekeeping in all Zeolite areas of the pilot plant.
Identifies any hazards and participates in EHS (Environmental Health and Safety) programs, reporting incidents and near misses.
Ships and Receives of raw materials and products
Performs Ion exchange and Zeolite synthesis in the laboratory and pilot plant scale (100 g to 20 kg)
Performs necessary mathematical calculations with results frequently requiring additional interpretation
May provide training to lower level technicians.
Must be able to safely lift to 50 lbs.
Strict adherence to established safety standards required

Ingredients for Success: What We Look For In You…
High School Diploma or GED with 7 years laboratory experience; OR Associates degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related science with 3 years laboratory experience; OR BS in Chemistry/Material Science/Chemical Engineering with 1 year of experience.
1 year of experience using Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Excellent laboratory skills, including detailed record keeping.
Mechanical ability a plus (i.e. able to operate, repair, maintain, order, and troubleshoot pilot equipment)
Previous experience handling and working with chemicals in a pilot plant environment is a plus.
Experience with pilot processing equipment is highly desired, including grinding, spray drying, stirred tank, drying and calcining equipment and autoclaves.
A keen sense of attention to detail and the ability to work within tight deadlines
Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced technical environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
