In our Service Unit Intellectual Property, we are responsible for all services relating to Intellectual Property, i.e. patents, trademarks, trade secrets, plant variety protection, copyrights, designs and IP Intelligence, as well as all IP-contracts. We are a global team servicing the entire BASF group and work in close alliance with the operating business units as well as with the research and technology platforms. In this way we create a basis for future business success and actively influence BASF's competitive situation.

What you can expect

The IP Intelligence unit of the Global Intellectual Property department supports BASF worldwide along the entire innovation chain with professional information analyses. Our service portfolio ranges from trend identification and classic IP searches to complex landscape analyses, technology studies and registration searches.

  • As a member of our Berlin team in the Materials and Systems Information group, you will act as a global contact person in your technology area.

  • From day one, you will be involved in BASF's research projects and support them with business as well as research relevant information.

  • In close cooperation with the patent department, you conduct information analyses to secure future business areas.

  • You also prepare technology and competitor analyses to support our research and business units in their strategic decision-making.

  • In interdisciplinary project teams you develop technologies to optimize information management.

What we expect

  • above-average degree in a scientific or technical field, preferably in organic or polymer chemistry; additional Ph.D. is an advantage

  • several years of relevant work experience and very good understanding of industrial research and development

  • extensive technical knowledge as well as professional experience in the field of polymer chemistry desirable

  • knowledge of professional scientific information analysis and patents

  • strong communication skills in English and/or German

  • enthusiasm to develop innovative solutions and to implement them in a team environment
