The BASF Human Nutrition business is working to find solutions to some of the most complex societal health issues. Our group is positioned at the intersection of active lifestyles and disease prevention and is working to redefine health care. Our proximity to the consumer allows us to understand their needs and our technical expertise enables us to develop innovative solutions. Our goal is to utilize our expertise and solutions to shift consumers thinking about health care from disease treatment to disease prevention.
The position is responsible for acquiring new business opportunities at new and existing customers for the Dietary Supplements segment in North America in order to drive organic growth in Human Nutrition. The position is also responsible for understanding market trends and customer needs; and applying this knowledge to key customer targets. The ideal candidate would have a strong market and consumer focus and would be able to translate this perspective into clear business strategies.

Be an enthusiastic outgoing individual who has the ability to build relationships at multiple levels within the customer‘s organization
Drive “hunting” efforts at account in support of organic growth in the dietary supplements segment
Identify, negotiate and close new opportunities for our products within the DS segment
Understand market trends and unmet customer needs, and apply this knowledge to the key customer targets
Develop new business opportunities at existing accounts
Collect customer demand and translate into accurate forecast
Develop plan to build customer satisfaction at accounts
Existing Account maintenance and growth
Price negotiations with all customers in territory
Creating Account specific strategic plans and implementation of plan
Prospecting for new business within dedicated sales region.
Implementation of customer segmentation and business rules
Administrative duties include: Account Plans, call reports, monthly updates, reporting of any key intelligence data collected, lead documentation, pipeline maintenance, etc.,
Increase market intelligence by bringing information around industries, competitors and customers back into the organization
Work with Consumer Health team to actively promote and sell Nutrition & Health’s product portfolio.

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Chemistry, or a business discipline.
Experience in sales with a proven track record of successful performance.
Prior background in dietary supplement industry is preferred.
Account management planning skills
Clear and effective communication skills
Presentation skills to effectively sell with a concentration of value pricing.
Solid commercial and financial acumen.
Demonstrated ability to cultivate extensive network of contacts at major accounts.
Ability to be an effective leader and team player.
Knowledge of business process systems (e.g., analytical marketing and sales execution processes).
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Greater than 50% travel, primarily in the Los Angeles, CA area.
