EHS Manager – Dispersions and Resins (ED) - (1902755) – Charlotte, NC

Where the Chemistry Happens

We are seeking a professional like you to drive, coordinate, and support EHS programs, management systems, and related sustainability efforts. You will lead a team of EHS professionals located at the North American ED Operations sites to ensure consistent risk interpretations and to ensure implementation as well as effectiveness and efficiency optimization of BASF’s EHS programs and initiatives.

This is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate your experience in US and Mexico EHS regulations, EHS risk management, Management of Change, incident investigations, and root cause analysis. You will also share your entrepreneurial drive, results orientation, persuasiveness, and negotiating skills.

Travel for the role is expected to be up to 30%.

Formula for Success

  • Your leadership and coaching experience, along with your ability to guide employees across multiple sites, will be essential as you lead a team of 7 EHS professionals located throughout North America (across 6 sites) by providing direction and guidance to meet EHS performance goals while fostering their professional development.

  • Leveraging your Bachelor’s education in Biology, Chemistry, EHS, Engineering, Science, or a related technical field and your senior level experience in EHS and/or Processing Operations within the industry and/or Research & Development, you will identify and prioritize issues and opportunities, make necessary adjustments to resources and programs, as well as develop and execute measures and action plans designed to reduce risks and improve EHS performance.

  • Successfully engaging across the organization, you will closely collaborate and partner with the ED Operations North American leadership, the Global EHS Leadership Team and site leadership on establishing yearly priorities and targets. This includes monitoring and analyzing achievement via appropriate EHS and Sustainability key performance indicators.

  • Relying on your experience in safety, including behavior-based safety, industrial hygiene, MSHA and multi-media environmental programs and their impact on overall EHS performance, you will ensure systems are in place to assure compliance with environmental regulations and permit conditions.

  • Utilizing your strategic thinking and influencing skills, you will work with North American stakeholders to implement standardized EHS processes in support of the BASF Responsible Care © Management System.

  • Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will serve you well as you interact with and influence site leadership, regulatory agencies, and other key internal and external stakeholders regarding best practices in EHS program execution.

  • Applying your well-rounded understanding of EHS requirements, you will identify the need for EHS services (internal to BASF and external) and manage EHS service providers to ensure continuous improvement in EHS aligned with ED business needs and goals.

  • Your proven ability to drive change and develop, implement, and manage effective EHS programs will aid you as you facilitate RC management system reviews for ED Operations in North America.
