Market Development Manager (1902723) Texas Region

Target region : Texas and near region; Specifically : Dallas, Houston, Austin, San Antonio metro areas

In this role, you will be responsible for representing all BASF’s Construction Chemical brands while improving our brand awareness, our specification position at targeted design firms and enable our local sales organizations for success by becoming a Market Development Manager within Construction Chemicals.

As part of the Building Solutions Team and reporting to the Manager of Strategic Development, the MDM position will provide a local marketing/specification presence (Texas) and sales enablement function for BASF’s Construction Chemicals business unit.

As the marketing/specification liaison between our customers and the organization, the MDM position will

a) ensure that our customer’s needs are recognized and met by focusing on new building projects in a discrete geography,

b) developing brand awareness and specification position with BASF’s top finished goods solutions with key design offices and

c) facilitating success of the local sales organizations. The MDM position will be building future revenue opportunities that would be realized thru the local sales organizations.

The role will be given some freedom and budget to employ different strategies to achieve goals. While not responsible for sales, the MDM position will have sales pipeline and activity based expectations. While the role is within the Construction Chemical (EB) business unit, the role is responsible for representing BASF finished goods at this value chain position.

Knowledge and Experience

Education

  • A Bachelor's Degree is required in architecture, business, construction management, engineering or science.

  • Masters in Architecture, Engineering or an MBA preferred.

  • Professional registration as a structural engineer or architect preferred

Experience

  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience required including :

  • Experience selling value added solutions in the building industry OR experience as a practicing design professional OR experience working with building specifications

  • Previous experience with client management required.

  • Can demonstrate experience working through others for success

  • Having a network of design professional contacts in the targeted region is preferred

Knowledge/Skills

  • Ability to recognize, prepare and to sell value oriented concepts to others

  • Familiar with construction specifications and appropriate design language

  • Ability to understand and use basic financial concepts

  • Strong verbal, written and presentation skills

  • Ability to facilitate discussions with stakeholders of different levels/abilities.

  • Excellent computer skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively within organization

  • Must be willing and receptive to training and personal development

  • Willing to travel regularly within targeted geographies to achieve goals

  • Willing to travel occasionally outside assigned geography as needed to achieve goals
