We are seeking a professional like you to be responsible for developing and growing the sales relationship with customers in the industrial formulator market both direct and through distribution. This responsibility will include the coordination with the new business development managers and technical service/applications team within BASF to support all customer projects and activities including prospecting and closing on new business. Success will be measured through increase of sales and profits. Targeting high level opportunities, you must be able to develop multi-level relationships with the customer, interface closely within the BASF organization and lead project teams across all regions. This is a true “hunter” position.
This is an excellent opportunity for you to demonstrate your strategic thinking capabilities and ability to develop and implement a strategic account growth plan which supports the overall business targets. Although not required, a strong track record of achieving sales targets and/or a general understanding of the specialty and bulk chemical market is advantageous in this role.
Travel for this role is expected to be over 50% of the time, including international.
Formula for Success
Your ability to identity business opportunities and develop appropriate strategies and relationships that deliver sales results within a diverse and challenging business climate will be essential as you develop and implement a strategic growth plan for accounts resulting in a measurable increase of product sales for BASF.
Leveraging your education in a technical discipline (Science, Engineering) or Business Administration and your experience in sales/marketing or business management, preferably in diverse customer relationships, you will serve as the direct contact to the existing and prospective accounts, facilitate the identification and support the achievement of growth opportunities at the customer/prospect.
Your effective interpersonal communication and relationship building skills will serve you well as you establish and maintain relationships with all levels in the customer’s organization, especially central decision makers in global procurement and formulations.
Demonstrating your solid understanding of the breadth of BASF’s portfolio and capabilities, along with your skills in influencing and presenting to others, you will understand the account’s innovation and growth needs and how BASF can fulfil those requirements. You will also continually refresh the understanding of what BASF can do to fill these needs.
Your ability to lead and coordinate others within a diverse, global team to achieve business results will aid you as you lead the coordination and tracking of all BASF efforts with the customer, including sales development, new business quotations and development projects.
