The BASF Human Nutrition business is working to find solutions to some of the most complex societal health issues. Our group is positioned at the intersection of active lifestyles and disease prevention and is working to redefine health care. Our proximity to the consumer allows us to understand their needs, and our technical expertise enables us to develop innovative solutions. Our goal is to utilize our expertise and solutions to shift consumers thinking about health care from disease treatment to disease prevention.

We are seeking a professional like you to acquire new customers and grow profitable sales in a sales territory within BASF’s Human Nutrition business. The position can be based in Florham Park, NJ, or home based for the right candidate as the territory has customers located across the country, but primarily along the east coast. The customer base consists of Dietary Supplement producers and Contract Manufacturers who make premix solutions for customers within the food, beverage and dietary supplement industries. In this role, you will be responsible for acquiring new business opportunities at new and existing customers for the Dietary Supplements segment in North America in order to drive growth in Human Nutrition. You will also be responsible for understanding market trends and customer needs and apply this knowledge to key customer targets. Ideally, you will have a strong market and consumer focus and will be able to translate this perspective into clear business strategies. This is an excellent opportunity for you to demonstrate how you enjoy balancing strategic thinking along with tactical execution to drive territory growth.

Travel for the role is estimated at approximately 50% of the time.

Formula for Success

  • Leveraging your educational background and professional experience in brand marketing for Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) or Consumer Health and Nutrition, you will develop and execute short- and long-term plans for new business opportunities and target accounts.

  • Capitalizing on your nutrition industry experience and network to provide your pre-mixers, you will provide contract manufacturers and brand owners valuable insight to solve their most difficult challenges.

  • Your strong selling skills, including lead identification and follow-up, ability to close, negotiation, and project management will be a valued asset as you contribute to the regional sales plan, develop and implement account strategies to achieve sales and growth targets, and negotiate customer contracts.

  • Successfully engaging across the organization, you will interact with key decision-makers to ensure sales activities in the region are fully communicated through site/visit reports, documentation, and account plans.

  • Your ability to develop an account / project plan and coordinate efforts with internal colleagues around the world as a key contributor to our global success will be critical as you provide a blend of regional account and global key account management services for your customers and internal stakeholders.

  • Your ability to juggle many different priorities successfully will be essential as you manage tactical duties which include developing account plans, pre-call planning with all involved stakeholders, call reports, monthly updates, price management, sales forecasting, contract management, opportunity development and movement, new product launch presentations and collecting market intelligence for the global team.

  • Your high level of curiosity will serve you well as you understand market needs, capture market, customer, competitive and regulatory trends and work with the organization to find solutions that exceed your customers’ expectations.

  • Your strong consultative selling expertise, combined with your solid communications skills, will be a valued asset as you penetrate customer organizations to build advocacy with the right partners.

  • Your demonstrated ability to perform well within a high-performance, cross-functional team environment will be of great importance as you will contribute to innovation projects via market analysis, business creation, customer feedback, and consumer research.

  • Building upon your business savviness, you will create compelling customer propositions based on market research and develop innovative marketing/sales tools and best practices that can be utilized across functions and geographies.
