Mechanical Reliability Engineer (2200961) – Geismar, LA

Where the Chemistry Happens

We are seeking a professional like you to join our team and be responsible for improving asset performance by using the most appropriate and effective tools and techniques. As a Precision Reliability Engineer you will serve as a rotating equipment technical resource for the site’s Precision Repair Shop, leading Root Cause Failure Analyses and implementing reliability improvements.

Additionally, you will provide technical support to troubleshooting of rotating equipment problems, as well as ensure a culture of continuous improvement, employing digitalization and LEAN Manufacturing tools.

Formula for Success

  • Leveraging your background in an engineering discipline with your understanding of Finite Element Analysis and your experience in petrochemical maintenance, machine shop, or reliability environment, you will actively monitor Precision Repair Shop equipment repairs, serving as a mentor to the shop millwrights/machinists, ensuring correct equipment repairs and effective shop utilization.

  • Relying upon your excellent background in equipment troubleshooting including root cause failure analysis and implementation of sustainable improvements, you will lead Root Cause Failure Analyses (RCFA’s) and develop corrective actions for complex or repetitive equipment failures.

  • Utilizing your thorough knowledge of CAD Parametric Modeling Software, combined with your understanding of mechanical equipment of various designs such as centrifugal, positive displacement, vertical turbine, and canned motor pumps as well as centrifugal, vacuum, and screw compressors, you will apply appropriate reliability tools to drive improvements, optimize costs and improve asset effectiveness.

  • Combining your SAP expertise with your intimate knowledge of manufacturing, rotating equipment repair, and manual machining such as lathe, boring, and milling operations, you will implement and continually enhance tablet based digital check sheets for equipment repairs.

  • Displaying your exceptional interpersonal skills along with your ability to communicate effectively with facts and figures, you will collaborate with Production and Maintenance personnel to provide services related to design review, repair, and maintenance

  • Your demonstrated background in the elements of machine design, including your ability to reverse engineer rotating equipment components, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing knowledge, ISO standard fits and Quality Control will be essential, as you support all Business Units at the Geismar site as a technical resource for equipment repairs.

  • Utilizing your general knowledge of materials of construction commonly found in a chemical plant environment along with your ability to influence, persuade, and negotiate you will evaluate new technologies and alternatives for equipment repair, seeking cost and delivery advantages.
