Where the Chemistry Happens…
This position is part of the Daily Support Team (DST) and is responsible for providing leadership, guidance, and technical assistance to the Daily Operating Teams (DOT) who directly operate the cluster's operating units. S/he is responsible to ensure safe and efficient operation in meeting the operational plan for the business. This requires in-depth involvement through both written and verbal communications so that the DOT operates the units in safe, consistent, and cost-effective manner. The Production Leader is a visible participant in the coordination and supervision of all operations activities within the cluster under the direction of the Production Manager.

Formula for Success: You Will…
Provide daily support to shift supervisors in performance of their own duties.
Coordinate, communicate, and monitor daily operations activities across the shifts, and provide daily operating instructions, and conflict management as required.
Troubleshoot operational problems and safety issues that last more than one shift.
Ensure consistency and accountability on shift regarding discipline, procedures, and grievances, including resolution of Step 2 grievances.
Seek compliance with all environmental, safety, and health requirements, promote a safe working environment, and ensure accountability of shift personnel for safety performance.
Facilitate accident report investigations and action item follow-up, coordinate acceptance of new installations, participate in process hazard analyses (PHAs), and generate and approve MOCs.
Maintain standards for SAP production processing and AE.net integrity.
Ensure Shift Supervisors and Operators complete MOC training.
Maintain weekly and daily alignment with the cluster's maintenance coordinator regarding work priorities and schedule, and ensure continuity of on-going work between shifts by tracking progress and communicating status with operations personnel, and recommending appropriate actions.
Consult and work with operations engineers, technology team, and TES personnel in resolving operational problems, modifications, improvements, and optimizations.
Prepare detailed plans for operational changes such as startups, shutdowns, product changes, and plant tests.
Ensure content of operating instructions and parameters are accurate and current.
Assist other operations personnel in the TPM process and in obtaining guidance and training for shift personnel to promote proper operation and maintenance of the plants.
Participate in root cause failure analyses and in corrective actions for bad actors.
Assure compliance with standard production trends and conformance with GMPs.
Monitor performance of LIMS/PIMS KPI's, plant yields, product quality, and waste generation.
Coordinate with Analytical Services regarding lab analyses, trains and coaches shift personnel on responding to analytical results, follows up on investigating non-conformances, and provide assistance during customer audits/visits.
Implement the High-Performance Organization within the shift supervisors by training, coaching, setting goals and objectives, evaluating performance, administering compensation programs, seeking career development opportunities, and planning personnel successions.

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
Bachelor's degree with at least 2 years of operational and/or maintenance experience; OR, High School diploma/equivalent with 5 years of operational and/or maintenance experience required
5 years of supervisory experience preferred.
Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt training preferred.
Understanding of batch operations and overall plant manufacturing processes, including operational procedures, operator training requirements, and be knowledgeable in the BASF/PACE Labor Agreement.
Strong understanding of environmental, safety, and health standards procedures and policies required
Understanding of mechanical and instrument equipment and their maintenance, maintenance programs, work processes (e.g., MPI), and best practices desired.
Technical competencies of process knowledge, knowledge of production capabilities, process unit ratios/yields, troubleshooting, root cause failure analysis, general computer skills, user knowledge of SAP production and maintenance functions, and user knowledge of AE.net
Competencies with analytical thinking, communication and interpersonal understanding, entrepreneurial acting/initiative, coaching, team leadership/collaboration, work management, and conflict management.
This position requires all candidates to either currently possess or obtain and maintain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) Card from the U. S. Department of Homeland Security.
