Operations Associate Apprentice

BASF’s North American Apprenticeship Development Program (NAADP) is strongly committed to attracting talented candidates like YOU to join our manufacturing workforce, where you will have the opportunity to grow your career through great work experiences further enhanced through on the job training and skills development.

As part of BASF’s North American Apprenticeship Development Program (NAADP), apprentices participate in a 24-month program offering hands-on work experience in BASF’s chemical manufacturing plants while attending community college to earn a company paid Operations Technology Certification. While participating in the NAADP, apprentices will be offered paid tuition, wages, and access to benefits. After the successful completion of the NAADP, apprentices will have earned an Operations Technology Certification and received on the job training directly related to the BASF Operations Associate roles.

Apprentices will report to the Operations Manager who, along with the assigned site manufacturing staff, will support the Apprentice throughout the NAADP.

Operations Associate Apprentice – Greenville, OH

Formula for Success: You Will…

Purpose:

An Operations Associate in the Manufacturing Unit works from specific verbal and/or written instructions to operate the appropriate process equipment to produce a consistent product. Operator Associate will start at Level I and be expected to continually advance their skill sets and participate in the team rotation when or where applicable during the apprenticeship.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Operations Associate will load and process reactors and perform in-process quality testing.

  • Operate process equipment to maintain product within customer specifications.

  • Understand the operation and control of process equipment

  • Ability to perform in-process testing procedures, as directed

  • Familiarity with material handling safety/hygiene issues

  • Ability to work in a team atmosphere with willingness and ability to help other team associates

  • Associate must be willing to work in a team-oriented atmosphere. This includes learning all the tasks and equipment associated with the process lane, helping coordinate the flow of work within the team and with other departments, and helping team associates to meet changing work demands.

  • Ability to drive tow motors/fork trucks Maintain assigned inspections and housekeeping duties

EHS:

This is a safety sensitive position that requires:

  • adherence to established safety, health and environmental policies and procedures.

  • participation in incident investigations.

  • accomplishing day-to-day and recurring EHS activities

  • providing safety suggestions

  • proactive hazard recognition and EHS issues

  • attending and participating in Safety meetings

  • performing waste management activities

Basic Qualifications:

  • The ability to:

  • learn on the job and use provided equipment/tools

  • follow both written and verbal procedures/instructions

  • comply with operational and safety guidelines

  • demonstrate working independently and as part of a team

  • lift 50 pounds

  • stand and walk in work environment

  • frequently use stairs (as required)

  • occasionally use respiratory protection including air purifying, air supplied, and self-contained air supplied respirators. Must pass fit test requirements for respiratory protection.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school Diploma or GED

  • Be enrolled in or willing to enroll in a BASF approved academic program
