Natural Gas Operations Specialist (1802015) – Houston, TX

Where the Chemistry Happens

We are seeking a professional like you to join our team in Houston, TX. In this role, you will ensure natural gas supplied to BASF and other companies flow without production disruption, within parameters jointly set with the Business Units, and meeting contractual obligations with third-party suppliers. Additionally, the job ensures that all BASF Intertrade purchases and sales are delivered as required by the terms of the agreements. In conjunction with these responsibilities, all necessary operations support must be given to the natural gas trading business and purchasing - including planning with the consuming plants, scheduling with suppliers and pipelines, and monitoring developments in the pipeline capacity markets.

The Natural Gas Operations Specialist will develop skills and experience needed for advancement into increasingly responsible Commercial roles.

Formula for Success

  • Leveraging your educational background and professional experience in commodity operations and/or in a commercial or procurement role, you will match supplier capabilities with Business Unit (BU) or third-party customer requirements to secure the best natural gas schedule.

  • Your strong natural gas logistics experience, along with your background in gas pipeline scheduling systems in the U.S. Gulf Coast, will be a valued asset as you work directly with Commercial Managers and Traders to ensure best possible communication of capacities and natural gas flows, and collaborate with BUs to determine required deliveries to keep plants running.

  • Driving strategic decisions for the business, you will keep track of P&L from natural gas optimization and trading activities.

  • Successfully engaging across the organization, you will interface with the global BASF operations team to ensure application of best practices and knowledge transfer.
