Product Manager (2104092) – Houston, TX

Where the Chemistry Happens

We are seeking a professional like you for our Product Manager, Plasticizers and Oxo C5 Alcohols in the Petrochemicals business unit. In this role, you will be responsible for pricing and margin management, development and maintenance of financial forecasts, demand forecasts, operational planning, supply planning, inventory targets, cost reduction initiatives and business process improvement.

As the key central point of contact for daily operations of the business and with a focus on the short to mid-term outlook, you will work effectively in close collaboration with our Manufacturing, Sales, Supply Chain, Marketing, Controlling, and Technical Service teams, as well as Customer Care & Purchasing, to drive activities and initiatives to meet business targets and objectives.

Formula for Success

  • Using your strong business and financial acumen, you will manage pricing for the product portfolio focusing on margin management to meet and/or exceed business profitability targets as outlined in the annual budget.

  • Utilizing your drive to deliver results, with an emphasis on forecast accuracy, you will ensure optimized use of our asset base, Co-Producers and tollers, while balancing working capital and an internal/external customer service/focus.

  • With a strong customer focus and based on your knowledge of the markets, products and applications, you will implement pricing initiatives aligned with market dynamics (raw materials, supply/demand balances, competitive situations, etc.) in conjunction with sales and marketing teams.

  • Working closely with Controlling and utilizing your working knowledge of the business, you will analyze the Plasticizers Monthly P&L and Cost Centers, develop commentary for communication of results and develop and implement strategic actions required to meet business objectives.

  • Your solid communication skills and customer focus will be an asset as you maintain and develop relationships with Co-Producers and manage commercial activities including tolling, swaps, exchanges, sales and purchase activities.

  • Collaborating for achievement, you will identify and capitalize on opportunities with your BASF business counterparts in other regions where we have import / export relationships.

  • Based on your drive for efficient and accurate work processes, you will commit to our continuous improvement culture by completing training and implementing continuous improvement initiatives for the business.

  • Utilizing your entrepreneurial drive and collaborating for achievement, you will support the North America Plasticizers Marketing and Sales Team for development and implementation of milestones and deliverables within the Plasticizer strategy, including new product launches and evaluations, market intelligence and tactical longer-term projects.

  • Relying on your exceptional networking and influencing skills, you will support budget setting, investment planning, internal / external raw material procurement, strategy development and portfolio optimization initiatives.
