Sr. Project Manager – (2103755) – Bishop, TX & Houston, TX ( Hybrid )

Where the Chemistry Happens

We are seeking a professional like you to join our team and be responsible for servicing the technical support needs for a linked regional site. In this role, you will also be responsible for providing project management in assigned plant areas to assure proper design, procurement, and construction of capital and expense projects, usually <$15M, per regulatory and BASF standards.

Formula for Success

  • Leveraging your bachelors degree or higher in Engineering and experience in a Chemical or Petrochemical site environment, you will establish and maintain partnerships with assigned project manufacturing representatives to execute projects from initial scoping and funding, through detailed engineering and procurement, to startup and commissioning, and final documentation and closure.

  • Relying upon your project management experience, you will develop project scopes, prepare appropriation funding requests, and generate and obtain cost estimates, as well as ensure appropriate project safety reviews are completed as required, both before and after approval. You will also utilize applicable Value- Based Engineering practices (VBEs) to optimize project scope and costs.

  • Displaying your strategic thinking skills, you will follow through to ensure that Operations achieves a successful project startup, and that any project-related action items are completed, as well as promote identification of lessons learned from completed projects to improve work practices.

  • Utilizing your knowledge of SAP, you will maintain SAP project data entries, monitor project progress through scheduling and other tools, perform project status reporting, and control spending through appropriate tracking, forecasting, and adjustments.

  • Utilizing your exceptional ability to work, interact, and collaborate well within your team and external partners you will request, and coordinate required process and discipline engineering and design resources, whether from the site or corporate groups or outside engineering vendors, to prepare engineering design deliverables and procure equipment, fabricated materials, and services.

  • Combing your negotiation and analytical skills, you will perform procurement activities, including preparing specifications, issuing requisitions, evaluating bids, and dealing with vendors, while working with Procurement and complying with applicable guidelines. You will also adhere to current corporate and plant requirements for equipment and materials specifications and vendor preferences.

  • Demonstrating your excellent organizational skills, you will monitor and support construction activities to ensure that projects are completed per the design deliverables, quality standards, and plant requirements, and that pre-startup safety reviews are conducted. Additionally, you will close projects per guidelines, and ensure proper documentation of files, records, databases, and drawings to meet regulatory and BASF requirements.

  • As a role model, you will ensure compliance with all environmental, safety, and health requirements, and promote a safe working environment for project execution.

  • 50% travel is required for this role.
