Project Manager (1901121) – Houston, Katy Freeway

Where the Chemistry Happens

We are seeking a professional like you to execute large capital investment projects throughout North America. As the Project Manager, you will be the focal point of responsibility, authority, and accountability of these capital investments. You will be accountable for the efforts required to execute capital projects in the range of $50-100M during the entire project life cycle. You will also have indirect supervision of a project team of 50-100 BASF and Contractor personnel, translating the objectives of the project into targets for each of the project team leads. Additionally, you will be responsible for communicating the project status, concerns, and recommended corrective actions to the project stakeholders, typically executive level individuals.

Formulafor Success

  • Leveragingyour educational background in an Engineering discipline (preferablyChemical or Mechanical Engineering), as well as your extensive professionalexperience in Project Management, you will be accountable for planning andcoordinating work process and budget as well as coaching a project team toachieve project targets.

  • Yourstrong ability to identify the root cause of conflict and minimize theimpact to the project team will allow you to motivate thepeople that indirectly report to you, as well as negotiate terms andconditions of the project regarding the overall engineering activities.

  • Yourproven successful track record of executing capital projects greater than$40 MM, and managing an engineering contract >$5MM as a project owner, provides the experience needed to develop and implement a plan forcontinuous improvement of project execution.

  • Yourability to understand and manage customer expectations will allow you todevelop execution and contracting strategies to effectively meetobjectives.

  • Yourstrong ability to influence project stakeholders will allow you toeffectively communicate to executives of project status, project risks andcoordinate decisions on countermeasures to mitigate risks or capitalize onopportunities.

  • Championing the scope development process, you will ensure completeness ofbasic engineering and look for opportunities for added value throughapplication of Value Improving Practices.

  • As youidentify areas of development for team members and assist them withovercoming obstacles, you will ensure compliance with all BASF policies,procedures and technical standards.
