Technical Service Specialist (2201459) – Houston, TX

Where the Chemistry Happens

We are seeking a professional like you to be part of a broader Technical Service and Product Development Team whose responsibilities look to provide field support for SAP (Super Absorbent Polymer) dosing and processing at our customer’s sites in NA. The key deliverable from this activity will include process auditing and technical recommendations that will resolve SAP-related issues at Customers sites. The Technical Service team delivers the technical support of the SAP business by providing innovative solutions and industry leading customer interaction that maximizes the success of customers.

In this role, you will be essential to provide technical expertise and support of BASF products into key players within the NA hygiene markets. Technical activities will align with business strategies to capture sales growth for BASF products through technical representation and product demonstration.

Moreover, you will be part of a team of experts who will support customers in new product qualifications and solve technical issues. You will engage in a high level of collaboration with Product Development Teams and Technical Service Units globally to support customers and enable successful product developments and launches.

The primary responsibilities will be to support BASF’s strategic SAP business growth at NA customers by implementing the technical strategy in three key arenas:

  • Introduction of new and improved BASF SAP product grades and presentation of educational SAP trainings to our customers.

  • Optimization of SAP applications within customer’s disposable infant and adult incontinence products.

  • Resolution of SAP processing or performance issues at the customer’s manufacturing sites.

Formula for Success

  • Your unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction and company success will be vital as you provide technical support for the SAP product portfolio that aligns with customer needs and BASF’s business goals. This includes establishing and maintaining customer technical contacts at appropriate levels.

  • Technical knowledge of absorbent product processing is preferred but familiarity of the hygiene industry is acceptable. Leveraging your knowledge of the hygiene manufacturing industry along with your education in Engineering or Chemistry, you will deliver point of application field support for SAP dosing and processing at our customer’s sites in NA. The key deliverable from this activity will include process auditing and technical recommendations that will resolve SAP-related processing issues at customers sites. Your ability to problem solve and think quickly would prove critical.

  • Technical communication both verbal and written will be essential as you develop and document technical findings through product reports, customer calls, SAP trainings, and stewardship towards BASF customers. Specifically, you will be responsible for accurately summarizing technical information into highly effective and organized presentations and reports for our internal and external customers. You will also need to successfully engage across the business and partner with the BASF commercial representatives to develop strategic support plans for SAP customers.

  • Work will be across Global teams to develop and implement technical support activities that help our customers be successful, translate marketing and competitive hygiene insights into technical solutions for our customers, and provide technical input on product launch plans and market development opportunities.
