Site HR & Communications Manager, Huntsville

The Site HR & Communications Manager identifies, develops and executes people, leadership and organizational and cultural strategies which better enables and positions the Huntsville site to achieve its objectives. Using your consultative approach to solve problems and analytical abilities to identify actionable insights, you will successfully enable leaders in the areas of Employee Relations, Talent and Workforce Development, Engagement, Culture, Change Management and Communications.

Owning the delivery, cascade or facilitation of HR & Comms initiatives from alignment and preparation to execution, you will lead Communications & Branding efforts for the site, Partner with the Site Leadership team, Mobile Emissions Catalysts (CCE) HR Community and leverage available internal resources for process harmonization and approach, identify trends in HR data to drive actionable insights, uncover ways to simplify and enhance the leader and/or employee experience as they go through processes and human capital discussions and connect and articulate with managers the business case of any given solution.

Reporting to the Head of HR, CCE Global Functions and Americas – this role will partner with the Site Director and leadership team on all HR & Communications topics and is a member of the CCE Huntsville Site Leadership Team.

Formula for Success : Leveraging your strong understanding of HR processes, guidelines, policies, and practices, your comfort level in HR Analytics and your experience in Internal Communications, you will provide impactful and sustainable solutions by successfully managing the following:

Employee Relations : Creating and maintaining positive employee relations in alignment with the Manager Resource Team (MRT )

  • Enabling the enhancing employee relations through spotting trends and critical issues and recommending solutions to site needs identified through analyzing turnover, diversity, absenteeism, performance management, and safety performance

  • Interpretation of and ensuring compliance with site policies, practices and guidelines (e.g. Operational Discipline, Hours of Service, Fatigue Management, and Transitions@Work)

  • Consulting with legal counsel as and when necessary regarding potential employee issues

Performance Management : Coordinating and managing performance management for the Huntsville site, ensuring clear communication to the organization is compliant,, consistent and objective. Provide leadership to ensure performance review evaluations are administered fairly and effectively and conduct impactful:

  • Analysis & Alignment with site leaders

  • Scheduling and facilitating of calibration session

  • Feedback loops to CoE & Head of HR

  • “Post-season” action reviews inclusive of trend analysis and continuous improvement measures

Employee and Leadership Development: Coordinating and integrating the Talent Management process at the site to include detailed analysis of potential talent gaps and development of career plans; Site Leader and middle management coaching and development and impactful:

  • Analysis & Alignment with site leader

  • Scheduling and facilitating talent review sessions

  • Feedback loops to CoE & Head of HR

  • Succession Planning

  • Leadership Pipelines

  • “Post-season” action reviews inclusive of trend analysis and continuous improvement measures

  • Coaching of site leaders on strategies which engage their teams (roundtables, team effectiveness, business conduct)

  • Needs identification for manager capability building at the site level, contracting for solutions to ensure a robust pipeline of future leaders for BASF

  • Lead sustainability efforts for the established work conducted on Huntsville University and progression promotion ladder for non-exempts

Human Capital Plan Initiatives: The development and execution of human strategy initiatives covering :

  • Workforce Development - Defining challenges & developing remedies for critical roles

  • Analytics (i.e Visier) to identify workforce development needs and influence manufacturing leadership; develop strategies which reduce turnover and improve retention

  • Diversity & Inclusion - Identification and implementation of Inclusion/Engagement efforts; in partnership with Talent Acquisition, identify and propose strategies to source diverse candidates for remote locations

  • Organizational Assessment - Analysis and development of organization structures and spans of control that meets the business market needs

  • Partnership with compensation to understand site pay lines in relation to trends in the local market

  • State and local economic development data to identify and define local trends impacting recruitment, retention, benefits and compensation level

  • Culture – Enabling and monitoring site culture (i.e employer value propositions, ERGs, onboarding, local community partnerships, ensuring connection to CC cultural priorities

Communications: In addition to site HR responsibilities, you will also develop and execute the communications strategy for the site, including:

  • Creation of an annual site change management and communications plan

  • Execution of communication tactics such as monthly site newsletter, manager communications, training opportunities and other site events.

  • Acting as a Communications counselor to the site leadership team to improve their effectiveness as leaders

  • Engagement of the employee resource group leaders and leveraging existing resources to further improve communication channels and increase employee engagement at the site

  • Liaising with local BASF Communications Hub representatives to support specific external activities such as media training, employer branding

  • Participation in the CCE communications community and remaining engaged on strategic initiatives critical to the business.
