Commercial Account Manager (2001692) – Iselin, NJ or Houston, TX

Where the Chemistry Happens

BASF's Process Catalysts group is seeking a professional like you to secure new and existing business through positive customer experience and persistent deal management.

Travel for this role is expected to be approximately 50% - primarily US domestic travel.

Formula for Success

  • Leveraging your education in business, chemistry/chemical engineering, or a closely related field and your commercial experience in the chemical industry, you will manage a territory and identify new leads through customer interaction, coordinate lead qualification, and attract new customers with existing and new applications (hunting) in line with strategy.

  • Demonstrating your experience in sales or sales support and managing a sales process, you will serve as the first interface to the customer and coordinate all customer interaction.

  • Your understanding of contracting will be essential as you negotiate and close deals/contracts with customers with price authority above marketing defined limit prices. Understanding the immediate and long-term implications of contract terms and conditions will be critically important.

  • Your experience building customer relationships across different levels and functional areas will enable you to do the same in this role.

  • Your solid business acumen will serve you well as you provide sales forecasts on a customer and product level and develop and implement account plans that are aligned with Marketing.

  • Using your robust analytical skills, you will analyze the market, customer and competitor landscape and update market intelligence data.

  • Acting with a service mentality, you will work to identify and specify customer needs, coordinate the process of turning leads in opportunities, put together the business case for alternative solution scenarios, and present solutions to the customer.

  • Effectively communicating with customers, you will extend the portfolio beyond existing fields, to grow with existing customers (farming). This especially means driving growth into new applications at existing customers.

  • The ability to leverage Salesforce and communicate a clear strategy for each of your accounts will be essential.
